Super Meat Boy, the challenging platformer that released back in 2010 by developer Team Meat, launched for the Nintendo Switch last week and owners of the console love it. The game is off to a great start in terms of sales. The studio took to Twitter saying that first-day sales came “shockingly close” to repeating the games sales numbers from when it launched on Xbox 360 in 2010.
The sequel to Super Meat Boy, Super Meat Boy Forever, is on its way to the Switch in the future according to a Nintendo Direct from last year, and the strong debut for the game is a good sign for the studio. Team Meat joked, “Now I’m pretty excited about Super Meat Boy Forever for the Switch…Imma buy @notch’s house.”
Now I’m pretty excited about Super Meat Boy Forever for the Switch…Imma buy @notch‘s house
To add some context to the above tweet, Notch is the creator of Minecraft, Markus Persson, who sold Minecraft to Microsoft for around $2.5 billion back in 2014. He used some of that to buy a $70 million mansion in Los Angeles, outbidding Jay-Z and Beyonce.
Super Meat Boy for Switch is available now for $15 on the Switch’s digital store. A physical version will hit store shelves later this year. The Switch edition of the game offers a new mode which is a two-player split-screen challenge named “Race Mode.” You can use this mode for individual levels, an assortment of random ones, or the full game, with options for both light and dark.
The amazing story of what Team Meat had to go through to create Super Meat Boy was one of the best parts of the independent film Indie Game: The Movie. The game was developed by The Binding of Isaac’s creators Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes and debuted on Xbox 360 as part of Microsoft’s Game Feast promotion back in October of 2010. It also came out for PS4, PlayStation Vita, and Wii U.
The developers of the indie classic, Journey, are back at it with the spectacular cinematic indie game, ABZU. Creating an exquisite water world, ABZU lets the player live out their underwater fantasies. Swimming with the sea creatures and exploring lost environments deep beneath the waves, the story becomes clear. However the game isn’t so cut and dry, it’s an extremely abstract adventure so imaginations will run wild.
Even though the entire game is relatively short, there is so much to discover. From the different sea creatures to all the incredible rock formations and underwater environments, ABZU is amazing. It’s the perfect game to watch or play when wanting to unwind. Stunning and relaxed are the best words to describe the overall theme of the indie game.

Overwatch League Update for PC, PS4, Xbox One
With the Overwatch League making its debut, Blizzard released their Overwatch update on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Fans of the Overwatch League are going to be happy to hear that new skins based on their favorite leagues’ teams will be available. The patch includes a bunch of additional changes and bug fixes that some Zenyatta and Ana players might enjoy as well.
Before jumping into all the changes included in the patch, Overwatch fans are in for quite a surprise. The new skins will not be available through loot boxes which has always been the norm. Instead, the new league skins can only be purchased with League Tokens.
Ranging from $5 for 100 Tokens to $100 for 2,600 Tokens, it will be quite pricey to buy the lot. Each skin will cost 100 Tokens. All the skins will cost $1,200 so it might be worth picking out your favorite teams and sticking with them. The good news is that players will automatically get 100 Tokens just for logging on while the first stage is active (Jan 10th – Feb 13th).
There are a few big changes coming to some characters as well and the main menu is getting an update, too. Target’s health bars will be visible to Zenyatta when Orbs of Discord and Harmony are used. Gamers will notice a new Overwatch League area in the main menu where league matches can be streamed. Console players will see some exciting changes as well. The communication wheel selections can be bound to a button and players will now be able to change the crouch mechanic to a press and hold command. Finally, Ana will have an additional setting for Friendly Aim Assist Strength to help players personalize the level of assistance when aiming at teammates.
A bunch of bug fixes is coming to the Overwatch League update, take a look at the official patch notes for additional information.

New ESO Expansion Dragon Bones Launches in February
The next big expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) will be arriving to the game’s various consoles soon. Bethesda released the first details on the upcoming Dragon Bones DLC pack, which is currently set to arrive next month. Besides introducing two new dungeons, it has a host of other new content for players to explore in the popular MMO.
The meat and bones of the Dragon Bones DLC is the set of dungeons named, Scalecaller Peak and Fang Lair. The developer describes the first as “the burial site of a long-dead Dragon Priest,” which is now filled with cultists who plan to unleash a deadly plague upon the world. The second dungeon is an ancient Dwenmer ruin where an evil mage is attempting to revive an ancient dragon.
New Monsters and Old Friends
Players will encounter a host of new monsters contained within the two new dungeons, such as “plague-ridden ogres, powerful sorcerers and their undead creations, and even the reanimated bones of an ancient dragon.” Both will be available in ESO’s Normal and Veteran modes. The harder difficulty will also have a new challenging boss fight at the end of each dungeon which only the strongest can vanquish.
On top of the two new dungeons, the Dragon Bones expansion adds a bunch of new items, monster sets, and achievements. One of the new items players can obtain is named Renegade Dragon Priest Mask, which Skyrim players will recognize from the insanely popular RPG and can be earned by simply entering one of the game’s two new dungeons.
Mark Your Calendars
The Dragon Bones expansion will be hitting ESO in February. Like their previous DLC’s, it non-subscribers can purchase it from the in-game Crown Store, while ESO Plus members will be able to play at no additional cost. Along with the update’s release, Bethesda will roll out Elder Scrolls Online’s next patch, known as Update 17, which all players can take advantage of.
Update 17 introduces several new aspects to ESO, which includes the ability to make your home a storage space and a new clothing system that lets players customize the appearance of their individual pieces of equipment. The update also adds two new PvP arenas: Mor Khazgur and Deeping Drome. However in order to play Battlegrounds mode, players will need the latest Morrowind expansion. If you’d like to learn more about the upcoming expansion you can find all the details from Bethesda’s website.
