Devil May Cry 5 Launches in 2019

Devil May Cry 5 Launches in 2019

Devil May Cry 4 came out a decade ago and fans are finally getting a true sequel after 10 long years. Microsoft revealed during their E3 2018 press conference that Devil May Cry 5 will hit consoles and PC in spring of 2019. Along with the big reveal and release date announcement, the company offered fans a look into what the latest iteration of the series is all about.

As shown in the trailer above, Devil May Cry 5 plans on featuring more of the slick and stylish combat system rather than the hack and slash style that comes to mind when thinking about Devil May Cry. The director of the game, Hideaki Itsuno, walked on stage to speak about Capcom's efforts to improve both the combat and controls of the beloved series. All of the game's development is being handled internally at Capcom and as the trailer showed, Nero will be making his way back into the game with his trusty sword, Red Queen from Devil May Cry 4.

Get Ready To Be Impressed

Capcom also stated that the studio is working around the clock to create world-class visuals that are sure to impress both long-time fans and newcomers alike. Itsuno also pointed out that Devil May Cry 5 is a true sequel to the last numbered game in the series and is the best action experience Capcom has developed yet.

In a press release that came out after the press conference, Capcom revealed more details on the upcoming action game. "A brand-new entry in the legendary over-the-top action series comes to Xbox One in spring 2019, complete with its signature blend of high-octane stylized action and otherworldly and original characters the series is known for. Years have passed since the legions of hell have set foot in this world, but now a new demonic invasion has begun, and humanity’s last hope will rest in the hands of three lone demon hunters, each offering a radically different play style. United by fate and a thirst for vengeance, these demon hunters will have to face their demons if they hope to survive. The devil you know returns in the most over the top, technically advanced, utterly insane action experience of this generation." (https://bit.ly/2sYj72R)

INSIDE Review: For Love of the Game

INSIDE Review: For Love of the Game

Review by, William Griston, For Love of the Game – Gigamax Games Contributor

INSIDE is the spiritual successor to Playdead’s previous game, LIMBO, and it wears that mantle well. INSIDE was released on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One in 2016 by Playdead. This game is a “trial and death” game much like what Playdead had labeled LIMBO. Thematically both games are dark, but most of LIMBO’s grit comes from the ambiance, whereas INSIDE’s melancholy is tied to the themes that it presents.

inside, inside indie game, inside review, indie game, indie game review, for love of the game, gigamax, gigamax reviews, inside on pc, pc games, pc game reviews

At its’ base, INSIDE is a side-scrolling 2.5D puzzle game with the story being told through set pieces that you encounter on your journey through the remarkably detailed world. While it’s not as difficult as its’ predecessor, INSIDE has a few new mechanics that keep things fresh.

Much like the previous game LIMBO, INSIDE starts off with a small boy running through a forest. After a short trek through the bush, you burst out into a clearing, where you learn that your character is trying to evade some NPCs(Non-Player Characters) armed with flashlights and tranquilizer guns.

INSIDE Gets Dark

inside, inside indie game, inside review, indie game, indie game review, for love of the game, gigamax, gigamax reviews, inside on pc, pc games, pc game reviews

As you venture further and further into the game, the NPCs get more aggressive. The world itself takes a dystopian twist, each death functioning as a checkpoint as you stumble blindly through Playdead’s wonderfully crafted and terrifying world. You’ll find yourself holding your breath as you attempt to evade NPCs, pulling your hair as you try to figure out the path you’re supposed to take and a surge of joy when you finally solve an especially difficult puzzle. Much like LIMBO, there’s also a modicum of macabre humor to be found within the venue that Playdead has granted us. The sad state of the protagonist’s world is told through both the extremely creative set pieces as well as the beautiful art style. You will die, a lot.

inside, inside indie game, inside review, indie game, indie game review, for love of the game, gigamax, gigamax reviews, inside on pc, pc games, pc game reviews

INSIDE’s graphics are not as rudimentary as the previous game. LIMBO was a black silhouette on a black landscape, INSIDE’s world is one of color, still draped in an atmospheric shadow and somber grays. The oppressive landscape serving as a terrifying backdrop to the gameplay, the story of the wheres and whyfors playing out in the background and sometimes in the foreground as you attempt to surmount the plethora of nefarious puzzles that have been placed in your path.

INSIDE is great, but LIMBO is better

inside, inside indie game, inside review, indie game, indie game review, for love of the game, gigamax, gigamax reviews, inside on pc, pc games, pc game reviews

While INSIDE is a great game, I think LIMBO is the much stronger title out of the two.

If we’re being totally honest, I feel like INSIDE would probably feel more original if I hadn’t touched LIMBO first.

In the end, I’d say that if you like platformers and Puzzle games: Pick up both LIMBO and INSIDE. If you have to choose between the two, I’d get LIMBO because the puzzles feel less labored than they do in INSIDE. I just did not get as much from INSIDE as I did LIMBO, it’s still a great game, it’s just not as fantastic as the previous outing by Playdead.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Release Date Finally Set

Kingdom Hearts 3 Release Date Announced

After over a decade of anticipation, Square Enix finally set a release date for the long-awaited game, Kingdom Hearts 3. This title will mark the conclusion to the main trilogy that follows the adventures of Sora, Donald, and Goofy through Disney themed worlds with a splash of Final Fantasy thrown in for good measure.

The third game has big plans to expand the scope of the universe and prove that they still have what it takes to blend eastern and western characters. Kingdom Hearts 3 will release on both the Xbox One and PS4 on January 29th, 2019. Immediately following the announcement, Square Enix revealed a new trailer for the game during Microsoft's E3 press conference.

The World is Stunned

Many were shocked at the sudden nature of this announcement, with the official Kingdom Hearts Twitter account revealing the release date with no build up or celebration on the first day of E3 2018. While fans of the series are aware that Kingdom Hearts 3 has been in development for years, series creator Tetsuya Nomura said at last year's D23 event that the game's release date was planned for 2018. During a fan event for the game in May, he had announced that a final release date for the game would be made public very soon.

Fans can still expect to visit Disney themed worlds throughout their journey to save the universe from being consumed by darkness. Although, this time around Pixar is making their debut in the beloved series. As of now, Square Enix confirmed that Frozen, Tangled, Big Hero Six, Hercules, Toy Story, and Monsters Inc. levels are all present in Kingdom Hearts 3.

Keep Those Fingers Crossed

Hopefully, this will actually be the final release date for the game. With the amount of gameplay and details the developer has revealed, people have high hopes it will happy. Everyone at Gigamax Games is big fans of the Kingdom Hearts series and plenty of coverage for the game is on its way as the release date draws closer. Agony on YouTube with Gigamax Games

Agony on YouTube with Gigamax Games

Agony caught the attention of gamers a couple years back when the trailer made its rounds on a bunch of social media platforms. This was where Gigs and Mack first heard about this upcoming horror adventure game. It seemed as though it was going to deliver a unique and exciting experience but what the world ended up receiving was far from expectations.

Agony, Agony on PS4, Agony on YouTube, Agony with Gigamax Games, Agony game, indie game, horror games

This game was anything but enjoyable. Screen tearing pledged the playthrough and the rough character models and the subpar world quickly eliminated any excitement surrounding Agony. Instead, gameplay turned into pure agony.

Agony Playlist on YouTube – PS4 Gameplay

Just because a game doesn’t have the best graphics doesn’t always mean its a flop. However, everything else that the game would have needed to deliver in order to overshadow its rough aesthetics fell short as well. This playlist shows off the first few minutes of Agony on PlayStation 4 and it quickly becomes clear why the game reviewed so poorly. Even though the game was a flop, the gameplay is absolutely worth investigating. It’s almost surprising that the developers were able to get away with distributing this game to the world.

Operation Para Bellum Now Live in Rainbow Six: Siege

Operation Para Bellum

Rainbow Six: Siege's Operation Para Bellum has made its way to both consoles and PC. The new update adds a new map, Villa, for everyone and two new operators, Maestro and Alibi, which are exclusive for season pass holders for a week. This new DLC signals the launch of Siege's second season of the game's third year, and is one of the largest updates Rainbow Six has seen.

Welcome New Operators

The duo of new operators are members of the Italian G.I.S. and will automatically be unlocked for any players that have Siege's Year 3 pass. Alibi has a Prisma ability which allows her to create a holographic copy of herself in an idle position. If Alibi places the equipment outside, attackers will receive an "operator outside" briefing. No matter where the hologram is deployed, Alibi will be alerted when her double is attacked and the operator that shot the gadget will be marked for a short time.

Maestro has a deployable gadget known as the Evil Eye, which is a remote-controlled camera that can see through smoke and fire shock beams. The turret acts as a bulletproof camera until Maestro decides to open fire exposing the core that attackers can destroy.

Ready For A New Map?

Villa is Rainbow Six: Siege's 20th map and will replace Tower in ranked mode. Ubisoft said that the map is an Italian home that housed a local crime syndicate and their illegal activities. According to the story, Team Rainbow is approaching the house as the family is on the retreat.

Operation Para Bellum Gameplay

Operation Para Bellum contains a host of other changes. In the Custom Games category, players will be able to take advantage of the new Pick and Ban system. Ubisoft described this mode as an extra layer of strategy between teammates as both teams try to coordinate which operators to ban. The latest patch also adds deployable bulletproof cameras, a new animation for a diffuser taking out a bomb, adjustments to both drop shotting and operators speed, new observation tool management, buffs for the operator echo and map Clubhouse, as well as a new discovery playlist.

There are a host of changes coming along with Operation Para Bellum. Rainbow Six: Siege continues to evolve and Gigamax Games will continue watching this popular first-person shooter closely. Keep checking back for the latest gaming news, reviews, and updates.

Surviving Mars Review – For Love of the Game

Review by, William Griston, For Love of the Game – Gigamax Games Contributor

Surviving Mars was created by the Bulgarian Haemimont Games and published by Paradox Interactive from Sweden. It was released on Windows, OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 15, 2018. The game follows in the footsteps of Cities: Skylines (Another Paradox game) and SimCity (Maxis).

Not quite what I was expecting

After spending almost a hundred hours on the indie company Magruda Works’ Planetbase, another game that’s eerily similar to what Haemimont and Paradox have offered with Surviving Mars, to say I was excited for the game would be an understatement. I pre-ordered Surviving Mars, I never pre-order games anymore. I have been burned one too many times, this game was not any different. While Surviving Mars had originally piqued my interest because the game looked like it was Planetbase++, that is, Planetbase with more substance.

Surviving Mars, surviving mars review, new games, game reviews, video game reviews, for love of the game, for love of the game review, for love of the game william, gigamax, gigamax games, pc games, paradox, paradox games, gaming news, game reviewers, reviewer contributors, game reviewers, gigamax games, gigamax reviews

What I got was a flashy game with very little substance. Which honestly should not have surprised me considering that it was published by Paradox, the kings of DLC. Paradox has a habit of releasing half-assed games and then making them better over time with DLC (See: Hearts of Iron IV, Crusader Kings II). Don’t get me wrong, I like Paradox games (I’ve played the shit out of both Hearts of Iron IV and Stellaris, as well as dabbling with the extremely complicated Crusader Kings II), I just I don’t like their business model.

Various Shades of Boring, with a side of Ho-Hum

Gameplay wise, you will spend a few hours collecting materials and then building windmills and solar panels so you can generate air and water and drop your first dome. After that, you call in your first batch of colonists which aren’t enough to staff all of your structures. Later on, when the games design to allows you to recruit more colonists it will automatically assign people to the jobs, but they are not assigned correctly. It assigns Engineers to the Farms, and Botanists to the hospital, and so on. This leads to a lot of tedious micromanagement with you attempting to track down individual colonists and telling them what building to work on.

For some inexplicable reason, the colonists sometimes ignore those commands and go back to the job they were working before, even though you’ve eliminated that shift which leads to even more tedious micromanagement. There honestly isn’t a lot to Surviving Mars. It’s basically SimCity/Cities: Skylines on Mars with a stricter ruleset. Graphically, the game isn’t really all that spectacular, either. Granted, the setting is Mars, which means that the terrain is various shades of red and brown.

Hot Garbage

In the end, I would honestly pick up Planetbase instead it is half the price of Surviving Mars. Even with the wonky AI in Planetbase, I had more fun within the first 3 hours than I did with the eight I put into Surviving Marts. I hate to trash on a game, but, Surviving Mars was a disappointment.

Fallout 76: Taking Inventory of Vault 76

Fallout 76: Taking Inventory of Vault 76

Fallout fans all over the world were ecstatic to find out about Fallout 76, Bethesda’s upcoming online survival RPG. Taking a step away from their traditional single-player role-playing games they’re so well known for, Fallout 76 is going to be something entirely different. The renowned developer did mention that there will be more information at E3 2018. E3 is taking place on June 12th but this is what the world knows about the mysterious new Fallout game so far.

Fallout 76 Official Teaser Trailer

What We Know

Fallout 76 is expected to release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. According to PCGamer, Amazon’s pre-order page leaked a possible release date, July 31st of this year. As of now, this still remains unconfirmed and Amazon’s current page lists the release date as December 31st, 2019.

Kotaku reported last Wednesday (5/30/18), a day after the official announcement was first made, that Fallout 76 will be a completely experimental new entry to the Fallout series. It is hinted that the new Fallout will have quests and a story, just like every other Bethesda Game Studios creation that came before. Base-building, similar to the mechanic that Fallout 4 uses, will also be included.

Players will take the part as a Vault Dweller in the new title. Emerging from Vault 76, the world will be much different than any of the previous games. The new game was named after lore that was mentioned in both Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, Vault 76. This vault was intended to be opened only 20 years after the nuclear war, which could lead to a much less “civilized” setting.

What’s Next?

There aren’t many more details floating around about Fallout 76. The good news for gamers is that Bethesda has plans to open up the curtain at E3 2018, which is only a few days away. With the incredible reception the announcement received, there’s no doubt that Bethesda will command a considerable amount of airtime.

Impressive Fallout New Vegas Mod “Fallout: New California” Out Soon

More than five years of work have gone into Fallout: New California, a mod that completely transforms Fallout: New Vegas. After putting in a ton of time and effort, the talented developers behind the project, Radian-Helix Media has announced that the project will be available on October 23rd for Windows PC.

Impressive Fallout New Vegas Mod "Fallout: New California" Out Soon

The team recently celebrated the fifth anniversary of the project which began June 1st 2013, although some work had gone into the game beforehand, with a brand new trailer. The mod is intended to be a prequel story to Fallout: New Vegas which was initially developed by Obsidian back in 2010. Players will start their journey in Vault 18 as an outsider to the dilapidated Los Angeles where the facility is located.

Upon surfacing, players will immediately find themselves caught in a three-way power struggle between The New California Republic, Survivalist Army, and the Super Mutant. This is the preface for the NCR's invasion and eventual control of the Mojave Desert. The story takes place in the year 2260 which is quite a bit of time before Fallout: New Vegas.

A Long and Winding Road

Back in 2015, the head of the project Brandan Lee said that New California's narrative would feature two main paths, two subpaths, and eight companion characters, which lead to many branching paths that took the development team a lot of time to get right. Initially, they wanted the mod to release before Fallout 4 but now they are trying to beat Fallout 76's launch.

fallout new california, fallout: new california, new california, fallout: new vegas, fallout, new fallout, fallout mod, fallout 76, fallout news, video game news, fallout new vegas, gigamax, gigamax games, gigamax gaming news, fallout new vegas mod

According to the mod team, the game's features are all set and art assets are locked in, but they are taking a few months to fine tune all the side quests. “You hit this story with huge replete branches 16,000 lines of dialogue long you expect some little moments with characters off to the side of the big arcs, and there just aren’t any,” Lee explained on the mod’s moddb.com page. “I’d also like to take time to revise some plot holes and gaps in the open possibilities that appeared in testing.”

The Fallout: New California Team will be opening beta sign-ups in July for fans that want to test it out early, which will give a look at the main quest line and the setting. As of now the launch scheduled for October 23rd is being called a Beta 2.00 release, but that does not change the excitement Fallout fans are feeling to revisit the west coast of post-apocalyptic America.
