What DICE Learned From Battlefield 5 Alpha

Last month, DICE held an early Alpha for their upcoming game Battlefield 5. This gave players a chance to try out the Arctic Fjord map. The developer released a comprehensive blog post where it discusses the data and feedback they generated from the most recent trial.

Battlefield 5 Alpha: What DICE Needed To Know

One of the main reasons DICE held the Alpha was to test Battlefield 5’s technical component, including backend systems, player scoring rate, and other critical aspects of the game. Another area the developer wanted to focus on was gameplay, more specifically, actually joining matches. Over the course of the Alpha, many issues occurred that were related to matchmaking configuration These issues resulted in players receiving error messages or being placed into less than suitable server locations leading to latency.

Battlefield 5, battlefield 5 alpha, battlefield 5 release date, battlefield 5 news, dice, battlefield dice, battlefield news

According to DICE, over the course of the Alpha, players found it easier to join matches by using the server browser. While many take the manual approach of finding a server, DICE said that it is important that regular matchmaking works reliably as well. Effective matchmaking relies on a multi-layered system that involves things like server location, skill level, and more.

“There are many factors to juggle when it comes to matchmaking: finding players with equal latency and skill level, and more–and these factors all need to co-exist,” DICE said. “Getting the best possible matchmaking is a challenge of balance; we want to match you into the best possible server and experience, which may take a few moments of waiting, but at the same time not have you waiting too long to deploy.” (https://bit.ly/2LbIm8O)

DICE also reported that they found many issues in keeping squads together during matches. The developer wanted to assure fans that these problems would be fixed by launch, as they said: “keeping you and your squad buddies together is a big priority for us.” (https://bit.ly/2LbIm8O)

More Fixes Incoming!

On top of on working on various improvements to stability and matchmaking. DICE is finding time to work on improving the queue system, minimizing toxicity with a non-cross-faction chat room, and taking care of strange bugs.

Here is a look at some of the gameplay issues DICE is addressing after the Battlefield 5 Alpha:

  • Revives will feel “less clunky.”
  • Buddy revive will be 2.5 seconds faster.
  • Starting ammo will remain limited, but some changes are being made for “optimal balance.”
  • The use of “reinforcement” weapons–which are really powerful and are meant to help turn the tide of battle–will be toned down in some regards.
  • DICE will continue to tweak Time to Kill (TTK) values with things like tuning the amount of camera shake when you’re hit. The developer will consider making weapon damage changes, too, if its current efforts aren’t enough.
  • Recoil for some weapons will be tweaked

Battlefield 5 is set to launch on October 19th, but subscribers to EA/Origin Access can start their war on October 11th. Fans that purchase the Deluxe Edition will be able to play on October 16th. If anyone is a big fan of Battlefield, definitely look into the various ways to play early.

Now, anyone with a Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One has the chance to explore this magical world filled with dragons, mystery, and destruction.

What You Can Expect

With a colorful world and all the different playable characters, Shining Resonance Refrain is an expansive RPG. Japanese audiences fell in love with this title from SEGA. After its success in Japan, the west waited patiently for their turn to play. When western audiences found out back in 2014 that a release wasn’t going to happen, they were nothing less than shocked.

Shining Resonance Refrain uses the classic action RPG style fighting style and has complicated menus often associated with JRPG’s. The graphics aren’t mind-blowing but this game was originally released over 4 years ago on the last generation of consoles. Even with it’s overly complicated menu system and outdated graphics, this game is still an adventure to remember. Any fan of RPG and fantasy games might want to give this massively popular game a try. However, before a gamer spends the money, make sure the gameplay in the playlist above looks appealing.

Thank You For Watching!

Hope you enjoyed this preview and playlist! It means so much to everyone here at Gigamax Games that you chose to spend your time with us.

Pokemon: Let’s Go Brand New Trailer With Plenty of Details

Pokemon: Let’s Go Brand New Trailer With Plenty of Details

Nintendo released a brand new trailer for their upcoming title Pokemon: Let’s Go. It showed off an impressive amount of new details for trainers to get excited about. The trailer, which those interested can watch below, bears the slogan “explore the Kanto region in a whole new way” and based on that short video, Nintendo certainly isn’t lying.

While the gameplay may be familiar to fans of the series, there is more visual detail packed into the world and sprites than players have ever seen before. It shows off trainers, both male and female, riding on the backs of select Pokemon such as Charizard, Onix, and Arcanine. There are short clips of battles and a look at how players will be able to customize and bond with both Pikachu and Eevee, the starters fans choose between depending on which version they buy. Much like in the more recent Pokemon titles, trainers will be able to pet and feed their monsters to keep their morale up.

Matching Pokemon Outfits? Yes, Please!

Players will have a variety of cosmetic choices to experiment with when customizing Pikachu or Eevee. Fans can choose between different hairstyles and clothing to personalize their Pokemon. The new trailer shows off Eevee in a charming blue hat and red bowtie combo, while Pikachu is looking sporty in a nice safari outfit. If trainers are feeling super close to their Pokemon, they can even wear matching costumes.

Along with basic trainer battles, players will be able to take on the original gym leaders. The trailer gave a brief look at both Brock and Misty, who fans of the original games should remember very well. Gamers will also be able to experience the game together.  Co-op battling and trading with friends both online and locally will be available as well.

Pokemon: Let’s Go is meant to be friendly toward newcomers and fans of the long running series. Both those that started playing with the mobile game Pokemon Go or gamers that have been playing since Pokemon Red and Blue will all feel at home. The game features all of the original 150 Pokemon as well as their Alolan forms from Sun and Moon. However, instead of taking the traditional approach to capturing monsters, you simply acquire them by throwing stacks of Pokeballs at them just like in Pokemon Go.

Pokemon: Let’s Go is set to release on November 16th, 2018 and we’ll be sure to keep you up to date on all the information Nintendo puts out here at GigamaxGames.com!

Fortnite: Battle Royale – What’s New With Season 5?

What’s New with Fortnite Season 5?

Confirmed, Discoveries, and Rumors

Epic Games announced that Season 5 of the massively popular Fortnite: Battle Royale will begin Thursday, July 12. Fortnite Season 5 will be available immediately after Season 4 ends and Epic finishes with their scheduled server maintenance. The latest patch will open up on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and iOS at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM BST / 6 PM AET.

Gamers are lining up for their chance to purchase the Season 5 Battle Pass. Epic hasn’t confirmed exactly what skins or other items players can expect from the newest Battle Pass or how much it will cost. With no new skins shown off, there is an image of a new mask and a battleaxe in Epic Games teaser. It seems as though this is a partial look at some of the new Season 5 skins to come.

All previous Battle Passes cost 950 V-Bucks and it is assumed that Season 5 will be the same. Fortnite’s in-game currency can either be bought with real money, earned when they reach certain reward tiers or in the paid “Save the World” mode. 1000 V-Bucks currently costs $9.99.

Epic Games Keeps Some Secrets

The developer hasn’t been releasing a pool of details about Fortnite Season 5 but recent in-game events has imaginations running wild. A mysterious rocket in the Evil Lair took off into the sky on June 30th which caused a giant rift to open in the sky. Cracks can be seen in the bubble-like storm above all the chaos happening on the island below. Since this time, more mysterious rifts began opening up all over the map. Lonely Lodge, Retail Row, Tomato Town and more all are now home to these interesting new additions.

Along with the in-game developments that are offering hints about the content coming to Fortnite Season 5, people are starting to come across hints in the real-world. A desert in California is now home to the Durr Burger. There were also warning signs that read “warning: you are too close to the anomaly” that appeared around the Durr Burger. Visitors also discovered a card with a phone number on it and when dialed, it played audio of an object disappearing through a rift according to PC Gamer and then was changed to coordinates, Forbes cited.

That’s not the only Fortnite imagery to appear IRL. People are stumbling across Fortnite’s loot llamas all around Europe. So far, there have been seven discovered in total. Paris, Cologne, Cennes, Warsaw, Barcelona and two in London are all home to this lovable llama. That’s a total of eight mysterious real-world Fortnite objects to appear outside of the game. What this all means is still unconfirmed. It could be nothing more than a clever (and successful) marketing stunt or a hint about what’s to come in Season 5. Gamers will need to wait until July 12th to see for themselves.

Goodbye Playground Mode

As with the previous limited-time modes in Fortnite, this sandbox-style game option isn’t sticking around. Epic announced that Playground Mode is scheduled to be removed the same day Season 5 begins, July 12th. However, there is some good news for fans of this unique building mode. The developer confirmed that they listened to player feedback, took note of improvements that can be made, and plans on bringing it back to the game, eventually. There is no word yet on when gamers might be able to jump back in and build until their heart’s content.

Fortnite Season 5 New Map Expected

One of the biggest questions surrounding Fortnite Season 5. There is no official statement or announcement from Epic Games but Express.co.uk is claiming dataminers uncovered the new map. The video below is from the YouTube Channel, DieBuddies Zocken, an Austrian gamer that seems as though he is playing on a dramatically different Fortnite map.

It’s no secret the Fortnite map has undergone some impressive changes since the game was released. Even with speculation mounting, the video above still remains unconfirmed.

Everyone at Gigamax Games hasn’t been able to pull themselves away from Fortnite, like most of the world. Be sure to stick around for the release of Fortnite Season 5 as the Gigamax crew will be releasing gameplay and exploring what Epic has planned for Fortnite fans with this latest update.

Digital Extremes Announces Two Major Warframe Expansions

Digital Extremes Announces Two Major Warframe Expansions

Warframe certainly came prepared with announcements for this year’s TennoCon, the expo that has been set up to celebrate the game. Fans were initially surprised to hear that the free-to-play ninja robot simulator would be heading to the Nintendo Switch. Digital Extremes followed this news up by unveiling the next major expansion named, Fortuna, which will take place in an open world setting on Venus. The update will add a new faction and expand the lore of the title. Another expansion that will build off of Fortuna will quickly follow it as well.

Warframe Continues to Grow

Fortuna is the follow-up expansion to the massive Plains of Eidolon update that released last November. The new faction making its way to the game is called Solaris United and is comprised of cyborgs who live in a debt-internment colony named, Fortuna, that feels heavily inspired by Blade Runner. Fortuna will serve as players hub city for the expansion much like Cetus in Plains of Eidolon. Fans of the co-operative shooter will discover a Venusian sci-fi landscape packed to the brim with seascape flora, giant mushrooms, rare creatures, and so much more.

Space Combat Is Coming

The second expansion that was announced for Warframe is Codename: Railjack, which will come sometime after the end of this year and will focus on space combat. Players will need to team up to pilot a spaceship and fill roles such as driving, weapons, and repairing/managing shields. The preview above gives a good look at how this new system will work in the game.

On top of all these announcements, Digital Extremes revealed that two new Warframes would be making their way into the game. For those that are unaware, these are the bio-mechanical suits players take control of to fight the alien menace.

Warframe is currently available on PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. The game launched back in 2014, but has seen an amazing amount of post-launch support making it the fourth most popular game on Steam.

My Hero Academia Game Gets Western Release Date

My Hero Academia Game Gets Western Release Date

Those that follow the very popular anime series My Hero Academia will surely be pleased to hear that the upcoming action title based on the show has a confirmed release date for the West. Although, Bandai Namco has yet to reveal many other details on the unique anime game that is set for this year. My Hero One Justice will be available for PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC on October 26th, 2018. For a brief look at the game check out the release date reveal below.

The new trailer only shows a very quick look at gameplay but it certainly builds plenty of hype for fans of My Hero Academia. Bandai Namco described My Hero One Justice as an arena brawler where players can decide to take the hero or villain path on their mission for justice. Fans will be able to utilize the cast of heroes Quirks (superpowers) and call in two sidekicks to activate very powerful attacks that will use the environment to cause even more damage to the opponents. The game also includes vertical environments, as players are able to scale the sides of buildings and walls to get a better angle on enemies.

So Many Characters

My Hero One Justice will let fans of My Hero Academia choose between a ton of characters from the hit anime/manga. This includes Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, Tomura Shigaraki, All Might, and many other characters fans have grown to love (or hate). Each playable character also features an “Explosive Attack” that lets the hero use their Quirk in a big way. Pre-orders are not live for the game yet but will be up soon for interested buyers.

Those excited by the initial announcement feared that the game wouldn’t make it to the West at all due to the last game based on the anime, My Hero Academia: Battle For All, only released for the 3DS in Japan back in 2016. For more information on My Hero One Justice be sure to check back at GigamaxGames.com!

We Happy Few Will Release In Australia

We Happy Few Will Release In Australia

Australia has incredibly strict censorship laws, especially when it comes to video games. We Happy Few was the most recent video game to face the Australian Classification Board (ACB). This game was at risk of becoming unavailable to Australian audiences when it’s released on August 10th, 2018.

We Happy Few, we happy few banned, we happy few australia, australia video game industry, video game industry, video game news, latest gaming news, gaming news

The ACB released a statement last week announcing that they would reconsider their initial ruling of completely banning the game. News broke yesterday (7/3/18) that We Happy Few would receive an R18+ rating instead of being completely banned from the country. This all comes after their decision in May where the ACB said the game incentivized drug use. A made-up drug called “Joy” is a primary plot point in the game and that was considered to cross a line.

“A three-member panel of the Classification Review Board has unanimously determined that the computer game We Happy Few is classified R18+ (Restricted) with the consumer advice Fantasy violence and interactive drug use,” read the official statement from the Classification Review Board.

History of Australia’s Video Game Censorship

Banning video games in Australia was a much more common occurrence before 2011. Before then, Australia could only rate video games up to MA15+ (similar to T in the United States). R18+ was reserved only for film, and video games with similar content would be completely banned from the country as the appropriate classification wasn’t available. In July and August of 2011, the Australian Attorneys-General finally opened up the R18+ rating for video games as well.

Some Games Banned In Australia Over The Past 10 Years

  • Dark Sector
  • Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
  • MeiQ: Labyrinth of Death
  • NecroVisioN
  • Omega Labyrinth Z
  • Risen
  • Saints Row IV
  • State of Decay
  • Shellshock 2: Blood Trails
  • Silent Hill: Homecoming
  • South Park: The Stick of Truth
  • Syndicate
  • The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
  • Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni
  • GTA 5

A Close Call for We Happy Few

We Happy Few almost made it on this list above before the ACB came to their senses and awarded this video game an R18+ rating. Australia takes its censorship extremely seriously. There have been many games like the massively popular Left 4 Dead 2 that were initially banned from the country, but only after a highly edited version of the original game was it made available.

We Happy Few, we happy few banned, we happy few australia, australia video game industry, video game industry, video game news, latest gaming news, gaming news

Since the R18+ rating began covering video games, Australian audiences have been granted access to some of the most popular titles on the global market. This was arguably the most important development in the Australian video game industry in the past 10 years. Especially now, as video games become more realistic, there’s no telling which hits would have never made it to the massive island country.

Gigamax Games played the alpha of We Happy Few before the substantial updates the game received over the past year. This interesting universe was a colorful world filled with mystery and imagination. Gamers in Australia would have missed out on a potentially incredible adventure if the R18+ rating still didn’t cover video games.

Nintendo Switch Will Not Get Monster Hunter World

Nintendo Switch Will Not Get Monster Hunter World

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is hitting the Nintendo Switch later this summer on August 28th, but fans around the world want to know if the recently released Monster Hunter World will ever see life on the console. According to a recent Q&A posted on the website Siliconera, Capcom answered the question after their most recent shareholders’ meeting.

Monster Hunter World. monster hunter, nintendo switch, capcom, monster hunter news, nintendo switch news, nintendo news, capcom news, gigamax, gigamax games, gigamax video game news, gaming news

Unfortunately, they have responded with a hard no on the subject. Although many were disappointed by the news, Capcom stated their reasons for not taking on the project. Apparently Monster Hunter World is literally too large for the the console. The company quickly reassured fans by saying that other Monster Hunter games might be in the works for the portable library.

Not All Doom and Gloom for Monster Hunter Fans

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate was the complete edition of the 3DS title Monster Hunter Generations. The title was mostly received well by critics and fans alike with many saying how pleased they were with the sheer amount of content that is in the game. Monster Hunter Generations added the Arts System, which was a new take on how hunters handled weaponry by adding special abilities to each tool.

Even though Monster Hunter World may not see a release on the Nintendo Switch, Capcom will continue their excellent support with additional in-game events, gear, quests, and monsters. The next event to hit the game, Summer Twilight Festival, will launch on July 13th for both PS4 and Xbox One and bring all new content for players to enjoy. PC owners can expect to see the game on their platform of choice this fall.

P.S.: We recently previewed the Japanese version of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on the Switch. Gameplay is available now on our Youtube Channel. Be sure to head on over and give us your thoughts on the game!
