Valve announced their plan to officially start moderating comments on individual game discussions on their popular gaming platform, Steam. Before today’s development, Valve was only moderating Steam’s screenshots, artwork, guides, user profiles, community groups, and user reviews.
Live look at Valve taking down toxic comments
Valve Sick of Toxic Comments
The company made the statement via a Steam blog post which read: “In the past, we’ve been hesitant to get involved in the moderation of individual game discussions, as we didn’t want to step on the toes of game developers that want to have their own style of communication with players and their own set of guidelines for behavior. But over time, we’ve been hearing from more and more game developers that would actually prefer for us to take a more active role in discussion boards, at least to the extent of handling posts that are reported by other players.”
This does not mean Valve will be actively scanning forums and various comment threads for comments that break their terms of service and community guidelines. The company will rely on reports from users on the platform in order to ensure all of their rules are being followed. This is to make sure developers that joke around with their community and are rude on purpose don’t get taken down by an automated system. Valve will only target comments that have been reported.
Actual picture of a Steam troll
All of this news follows a year of numerous changes to Steam’s policies on censorship, which have been met with backlash by users. Earlier in the year, Valve announced that everything and anything could go up on Steam as long as it wasn’t illegal or a blatant attempt to troll potential buyers. It will be interesting to see how long this new system performs considering the company’s nature of going back and forth on decisions, but Gigamax Games will be sure to keep every gamer updated on the latest changes and Steam updates!
Telltale, the developer behind many successful story-based games such as The Walking Dead, Batman, and The Wolf Among us, has released a statement confirming that the studio is at least partially closing down. While the announcement doesn’t include what will happen to their titles that are currently development but the studio did promise more updates in the upcoming weeks. Telltale is now run by a skeleton crew of 25 employees, but it is unclear how long they will be working for the company. You can see the full statement below:
Today Telltale Games made the difficult decision to begin a majority studio closure following a year marked by insurmountable challenges. A majority of the company’s employees were dismissed earlier this morning, with a small group of 25 employees staying on to fulfill the company’s obligations to its board and partners. CEO Pete Hawley issued the following statement:
“It’s been an incredibly difficult year for Telltale as we worked to set the company on a new course. Unfortunately, we ran out of time trying to get there. We released some of our best content this year and received a tremendous amount of positive feedback, but ultimately, that did not translate to sales. With a heavy heart, we watch our friends leave today to spread our brand of storytelling across the games industry.
Telltale will issue further comments regarding its product portfolio in the coming weeks.
Unfortunately, other than this report and some tweets from employees, details surrounding the closure are few and far between. It is always a shame to see a developer of this caliber forced to shut their doors, but in an industry that is quickly growing saturated, it is a sad consequence of having access to a massive amount of quality games. Gigamax Games will be sure to keep an eye out for more details so check back here on GigamaxGames.com for all the latest.
Unsurprisingly, the recently released Spider-Man PS4 game has been pretty popular among fans of the web-slinging hero. What is surprising is that the game broke a variety of Sony sales records and set a new bar for all Triple-A titles on PlayStation 4.
A report from USA Today revealed that Spider-Man PS4 sold 3.3 million copies in only three days after the game launched. The previous record was set by God of War earlier this year when it sold 3.1 million copies in the first three days. Spider-Man was also able to break Sony’s pre-order records at a whopping one million copies sold before the game even came out. All of these figures don’t even take into account the sales of the PS4 Pro bundle that included a copy of Spider-Man PS4.
The game runs at the typical retail price of $60, which when added up, equates to about $198 million USD in revenue. This figure is more money than the recent Spider-Man Homecoming movie brought in at the box office. While this comparison sounds spectacular, it could be a bit off due to not every copy of the game being sold at $60 and movie tickets being considerably less expensive than a video game.
“Our expectations are always set at the highest levels,” said Sony global VP of sales Stephen Turvey. “It’s met and exceeded all expectations. I think the company, and the campus, and our fans are super proud of it.” Turvey also stated that Insomniac Games managed to bring back Spider-Man “in a way that you want to experience it.” (https://usat.ly/2QMjmIE)
It will be exciting to see how these sales figures grow along with the game as well. The question remains if gamers will commit to the DLC that will be released in the coming months. Whatever happens, you can rest assured knowing that GigamaxGames.com will be watching these developments closely.
The next Call of Duty, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is releasing on October 12th but fans had a chance to try the game early. There was two betas available, one for multiplayer and one for their new mode, Blackout. On September 14th, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners that pre-ordered the game got hands-on with the Battle Royale game mode and it was a pleasant surprise.
Agents of Shield?
Long-time fans of the Call of Duty series were crushed when they first heard Call of Duty Black Ops 4 wasn’t going to include a single-player campaign. Instead, Call of Duty Black Ops 4 would incorporate the popular Battle Royale game mode which they named Blackout. With the massive success of PUBG and Fortnite the developer, Treyarch, apparently saw a golden opportunity by adding Blackout.
Gigamax Games didn’t have the highest expectations for Blackout. Huge fans of PUBG and Fortnite, it was difficult to understand how Call of Duty could improve on the Battle Royale concept. However, after spending hours playing round after round, Blackout ended up becoming the most anticipated part of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 release.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – Blackout [YouTube Stream]
The gameplay above offers an unedited look at the new game mode coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Blackout felt like a much more refined PUBG but mixed with the high-octane action expected from a Call of Duty game. It ran as well as Fortnite but with more realistic graphics, far surpassing PUBG. Treyarch was able to give gamers the gritty Battle Royale game they wanted as well as the seamless, lag-free gameplay they needed.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – Blackout Impressions
LFG – Blackout Teammate
The games started out like any traditional Battle Royale game when landing in a secluded area. Blackout was slow in the beginning and most of the start was spent looting buildings to find gear, but when the circle began to shrink, the chaos kicked off. It was strange at first, strategizing with the team, meticulously choosing how to flank an enemy when an enemy was spotted. This isn’t always possible in a traditional Call of Duty multiplayer game. Yet, when the shooting started, it was instantly apparent that Blackout was still very much a Call of Duty. Fast-paced, running around, feeling like that kill was yours only to be dead after the exchange (level 3 armor is broken), this take on Battle Royale was able to stay true to the Call of Duty franchise.
Get To The Chopper!
PUBG and Fortnite both have vehicles but Blackout took this idea to an entirely new level. Gamers can find helicopters scattered across the map. They can transport troops and are a fantastic way to quickly loot entire sections of the map. At first, the Gigamax Games crew thought they were going to be a game breaker but that wasn’t the case. There are anti-air weapons included in Blackout and the pilot doesn’t have access to any kind of large caliber machine guns or missiles. Instead, they are primarily for troop transport but those riding along can still lay down fire from the open cabin. Find the right guns and a helicopter can be turned into a flying death machine but it’s a huge plus that they aren’t nearly as overpowered as expected.
Of course, no impression article of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – Blackout would be complete without mentioning the different points on the map which are populated with zombies. Zombie Mode is a staple of Treyarch’s Call of Duty and they seamlessly incorporated these decaying creators throughout the Blackout map. Classic Call of Duty Zombie Mode maps can be found all around the area of operation and in these locations, players can find the Mystery Box which is filled with high-quality loot and even has a chance to drop the Ray Gun. However, the best way to find the nearly unstoppable Ray Gun is just by killing zombies until one drops it.
What We Want and What Comes Next
The map brought back memories with every named location being based on previous Black Ops games. The picture below shows off the multiplayer maps they incorporated into Blackout. the Call of Duty: Black Ops franchise has had so many incredible multiplayer maps throughout its history, there’s no telling how Blackout’s map will evolve over its lifetime.
After a few rounds, the entire Gigamax Games crew started imagining just how this game mode will change over time. When taking a look at PUBG and Fortnite, it is apparent that gamers can get bored playing in the same environment over and over. Both of these Battle Royale games are able to keep players interested by updating the map or adding new maps entirely. With the massive budget Treyarch and Activision have at their disposal, the possibilities could be endless. This was a primarily “want” from the Gigamax Games crew. These powerhouse companies need to continue supporting Blackout, especially in the absence of a single-player campaign in order to keep the game mode fresh, feeling new, and exciting.
The Gigamax Games crew had low hopes going into the beta but after putting hours dropping out of that helicopter and working their way across the map, expectations are high for the full release. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – Blackout was absolutely a pleasant surprise and Treyarch did a fantastic job making it their own but at the same time staying true to Call of Duty.
The company behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Ubisoft, formally announced in a Tweet that development of the game has officially wrapped up. The message came from the official account representing the developer and it states that Odyssey has “gone gold” which is industry slang for the end of base game development.
“We hope you’ll be enjoying playing the game as much as we did developing it and can’t wait to see which paths you’ll choose,” Ubisoft said in the message to fans.
The company was referencing the series new take on the adventure, an open world RPG instead of the action game most remember. Fans noticed this path start to take hold in Origins with the improved combat and number/color based gear, which critics praised in reviews. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey features a new dialogue system as well which allows players to choose responses in conversation much like in many other famous open world games like Mass Effect and Fallout.
Although work on the base game may be complete, the team behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is still hard at work, developing post-release patches and content. Multiple expansions are already planned for the title in both free and paid forms, and those that purchase the season pass will gain access to a remastered version of Assassin’s Creed III, the game that took players to early America and put them in the shoes of the Native American turned assassin, Connor.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: Power of Choice Trailer
Ubisoft has already clarified that there will be no new addition to the Assassin’s Creed series in 2019, so hardcore fans will have to make the most of Odyssey and its various expansions. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey officially launches on October 5th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC so be sure to keep checking back here at GigamaxGames.com for more on this highly anticipated title.

The entire Gigamax Games crew is certainly excited for this game. Be sure to stop by again soon for more updates the moment additional details are revealed.

PUBG may need to compete with Fortnite, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Battlefield V in the Battle Royale Space but that hasn’t stopped Bluehole from staying current with their take on the genre. The most recent update adds plenty of new stuff and fixes an extensive amount of bugs. Referred to as Update 21, this patch brings a new mode, weapon, vehicle, weapon attachment, and reward system.
Update 21 Answers Requests
Update 21 also adds a much-requested feature to the game, a training mode that allows players to practice with the collection of tools available in multiplayer matches. This training area is set on a small island based map and contains fourteen zones for practicing different situations. Some of these areas include ramps, roads with sharp turns, gun ranges, a parachute practice zone, a location for rooftop free running, and an explosives range.
Bluehole added a new gun to all three multiplayer maps called the MK47 Mutant as well. This rifle takes 7.62 ammo and has a 20 round magazine. The gun also has two firing modes which include single shot and two round burst. Almost all rifle attachments can be affixed to the rifle, except stocks.
The jungle island based map, Sanhok, will be receiving a new three-person motorcycle known as the Tukashai. While not the fastest vehicle in the game, it handles offroad better than any other bike.
Update 21 contains an objective system that adds rewards for completing a variety of different tasks such as picking up teammates or damage dealt with a single attack. Players will now have the ability to mark points on the compass so their squad has a better idea of where callouts are located. A new laser sight has also made its way to PUBG that fits on the bottom of rifles. Like in most games, it increases accuracy, but those with it equipped risk giving up their position.
For a full look at what Update 21 changed, find the full patch notes on the Steam message board. With PUBG out on Xbox One, there’s sure to be plenty more updates in the future so be sure to keep checking back with us here at GigamaxGames.com for all the details!
My Hero One’s Justice is available in North America in October 2018 but the Gigamax Games crew didn’t want to wait. Find early gameplay in the My Hero One’s Justice Let’s Play page with Gigs and Mack.
My Hero One’s Justice Gameplay Playlist on YouTube
This fighting game incorporates characters from My Hero Academia and the Gigamax crew wanted to see if the fighting game lives up to expectations. Unlocking the Japanese version on a North American Switch allowed Gigs and Mack to play the game early. The language barrier isn’t the biggest issue in the world and instead, this is a great time to make first impressions of the game without getting too distracted.
First Impressions and Gameplay
Overall the game doesn’t include too many fighters which is a bit of let down. With such a massive universe to pull from, My Hero One’s Justice would have been much more exciting if they incorporated more characters from My Hero Academia. The combat is flashy and the destructible environments keep the battles interesting but the move list being in Japanese limited Gigs and Macks ability to get into the intricacies behind the fighting mechanics. It’s not the best fighting game on the market today, but any My Hero Academia fan might love taking control of their favorite heroes.
Once the English version is available, the Gigamax Games crew will need to give My Hero One’s Justice another try. Playing the game in Japanese is a great way to get an early look but Gigs and Mack can’t help but feel like they’re missing some crucial elements that would make the fighter stand out.
