The game that kicked off the recent Battle Royale madness, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) will be making its way onto PlayStation 4. First released on PC, Bluehole’s game quickly captured the world's attention. Professional streamers, casual gamers and everyone in between was swept up in the Battle Royale craze and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was the game to play. After it’s PC release, Xbox One acquired exclusive rights on consoles for one year. Now that year is up and PlayStation 4 owners get a chance to drop in and fight until the last person is left standing.

High Hopes for PUBG on PlayStation 4

Anyone that opened the PlayStation store on November 13 was welcomed by the option to pre-order PUBG. Just in time for the holiday season, PUBG Corp. seems to have high hopes for the beloved Battle Royale game. “We’re excited to expand our PUBG service and introduce new communities to our Battle Royale game” Changhan Kim, CEO, PUBG Corp. said. “PlayStation has developed an amazing community of passionate gamers and we can’t wait to join them this holiday season”.

PUBG Streams and Gameplay

When PUBG launches in December, it will include three maps: Erangel, Miramar, and Sanhok. Every major feature, the ranked system, event mode, and achievements will all be available immediately on release. Gamers that pre-order PUBG on PlayStation 4 will be able to sport Nathan Drake’s outfit from the Uncharted series and Ellie’s backpack from The Last of Us.

Those with a PS4 Pro will be happy to hear PUBG will be enhanced. Compatible TV’s will be able to support High Dynamic Range lighting.

Tough Competition for Battle Royale

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has much more competition than it did a year ago. Fortnite took over the world and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 introduced their Blackout Battle Royale game mode. The Battle Royale trend burned bright but the jury is still out if its popularity will continue. There are now some extremely high profile Battle Royale options on PlayStation. Even with all its success on PC, consoles, and even Mobile platforms, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has its drawbacks. Glitches, crashes, and general gameplay issues could make it difficult for gamers to choose this Battle Royale game over all the other options available right now.

Only time will tell how PUBG’s PlayStation 4 release will turn out. The Gigamax Games crew will be picking up their copy to see how the PS4 version stands up. Be sure to check back soon for all the latest gaming news, reviews, and impressions.

PUBG Gets Massive New Update 21 Patch

PUBG may need to compete with Fortnite, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Battlefield V in the Battle Royale Space but that hasn't stopped Bluehole from staying current with their take on the genre. The most recent update adds plenty of new stuff and fixes an extensive amount of bugs. Referred to as Update 21, this patch brings a new mode, weapon, vehicle, weapon attachment, and reward system.

Update 21 Answers Requests

Update 21 also adds a much-requested feature to the game, a training mode that allows players to practice with the collection of tools available in multiplayer matches. This training area is set on a small island based map and contains fourteen zones for practicing different situations. Some of these areas include ramps, roads with sharp turns, gun ranges, a parachute practice zone, a location for rooftop free running, and an explosives range.

Bluehole added a new gun to all three multiplayer maps called the MK47 Mutant as well. This rifle takes 7.62 ammo and has a 20 round magazine. The gun also has two firing modes which include single shot and two round burst. Almost all rifle attachments can be affixed to the rifle, except stocks.

The jungle island based map, Sanhok, will be receiving a new three-person motorcycle known as the Tukashai. While not the fastest vehicle in the game, it handles offroad better than any other bike.

Update 21 contains an objective system that adds rewards for completing a variety of different tasks such as picking up teammates or damage dealt with a single attack. Players will now have the ability to mark points on the compass so their squad has a better idea of where callouts are located. A new laser sight has also made its way to PUBG that fits on the bottom of rifles. Like in most games, it increases accuracy, but those with it equipped risk giving up their position.

For a full look at what Update 21 changed, find the full patch notes on the Steam message board. With PUBG out on Xbox One, there's sure to be plenty more updates in the future so be sure to keep checking back with us here at GigamaxGames.com for all the details!

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has officially launched on Steam. After shutting down servers to deal with a crashing issue, the game can finally be played. Who Doesn't Love Free Stuff?

Over the next few weeks, players will receive a free in-game Winner Winner Chicken Dinner t-shirt, which is dropped into their inventory upon the first log in. The PUBG 1.0 release comes with a variety of new bug fixes that address balance and stability issues. Bluehole stated that previous adjustments had reduced stability issues but the latest round of improvements should help make the game more stable over time.

Bluehole also said it's putting more time into cheat prevention measures. This comes after it already introduced improvements that saw a 66% drop in the number of players using cheats.

PUBG 1.0 also brings a few new mechanics to the main game, including climbing and vaulting, which the game's creator says "will change the game severely." The new release also features an official launch for the desert map called Miramar, which was recently only available to try on PUBG's test servers. Lucky players can find new types of obstacles, weapons, and vehicles on Miramar that will affect how you get that chicken dinner.

Fortnite: New Twist or Blatant Ripoff?

Fortnite: New Twist or Blatant Ripoff?

Video games are constantly evolving. A lot of the time, developers take successful ideas from other games and change it up a bit to make an entirely new title. However, sometimes, a game can be a little too similar to the original title which they took their ideas from. This has been the discussion surrounding Fortnite Battle Royale and PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds.

Let's take a look at the similarities between the two games and how they differ. It's an interesting list and one that might lead to more questions than answers.

Similarities:

1) 100 person deathmatch and the last one standing is the winner.

2) Squad mode, where players can team up to compete against other squads and the last group standing, wins.

3) Both of the games begin in 'lobby island' where all 100 players can run around, shoot guns, and scream loud into the mic.

4) Once the game officially starts, players are flown toward an island and can choose when to jump out of the aircraft.

5) After players jump out of the aircraft, they skydive down to their desired location and eventually float down and land gently.

6) Both only have one map as of now and bear striking similarities.

7) Players start unarmed and must scavenge around the map looking for weapons, ammo, and protective items.

8) The map begins to shrink because of an outside force which continues to close in on the players as the game goes on, forcing them into each other.

Differences:

1) Cartoony graphics give Fortnite a different feel from the more gritty, realistic PUBG.

2) Fortnite has no prone, changing the stealth aspect when compared to PUBG.

3) Players jump out of a floating bus instead of a plane as in PUBG.

4) Gamers cannot find armor around the map in Fortnite, instead, they pick up ‘Shield Potions’.

5) Fortnite offers no attachments for the guns like in PUBG, what you see is what you get.

6) PUBG has first person servers and an option to aim down the iron sites. Fortnite is stuck in 3rd person.

7) The feature that separates Fortnite the most from PUBG is the building aspect. Players can collect materials from around the map and build forts and cover. This is the key feature that has the most dramatic effect when it comes to the differences of  Fortnite from PUBG.

Final Thoughts and Your Input

Just from looking at the lists above, it’s clear that there are more similarities than differences. Most of the differences are even just splitting hairs, like not being able to go prone. However, these unique aspects from Fortnite do add some interesting dynamics which PUBG cannot provide. Still, PUBG seems as though it’s the superior shooter but this is not to say Fortnite doesn't deliver a quality gaming experience.

The question remains, is Fortnite walking a very fine line between blatant ripoff and unique interpretation? Or did the Fortnite developers, Epic Games, simply steal an innovative idea and implement their mechanics on top of PUBG?

With PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds developer, Bluehole, releasing a statement on September 22nd explaining that they felt Fortnite copied their game and might pursue legal action, the world may soon find out.

What do you think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments, we want to see how gamers feel about this complicated situation.

Gamers can expect the the test servers to be up for at least 2 days early next week (September 10th). People are excited to see what the developer is ready to bring to the game. In a follow up Tweet, the developer included some details about what the patch will include.

Details Revealed

It's always a relief to see a developer continuously add and improve their games, especially when it's not even officially released. Bug fixes are key and a new weapon is exciting, however the PUBG update further increases the competitiveness after the last big patch where First-Person servers were created. FPP leaderboards offer another huge draw to the game, focused on competitive players and those looking to make a name for themselves on one of the most popular Steam games out there.

Still Some Waiting To Do

Those looking to play the new desert map Bluehole hinted at will still need to wait. The smaller map is not expected to be released for quite some time but the original map hasn't stopped the community from enjoying the game. The good news is the foggy weather condition addition may offer a new feel to the map everyone knows so well.
