Spyro The Dragon Remastered Glides To The PlayStation 4

Spyro The Dragon Remastered Glides To The PlayStation 4

This September is a special one for Spyro The Dragon fans. 20 years ago, the original Spyro was released on PlayStation 1. Kotaku reported late yesterday, 2/13/18, that multiple sources insist Activision is currently working on a Spyro The Dragon Trilogy Remaster. The official announcement is expected to come in March of 2018 and will be slated for release in Q3 2018.

Longtime PlayStation fans might be experiencing a bit of déjà vu. The Spyro remaster is expected to be similar to the extremely successful Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. New animations, cinematics, improved graphics, assets and a remastered soundtrack will all create the brand new original Spyro The Dragon Trilogy, Ripto’s Rage! (Gateway to Glimmer as it’s known in Europe and Australia), and Year of the Dragon.

New Content for the Purple Dragon

There is also a chance that the trilogy will include previously cut content that never made it in the original games. No word on what this content could possibly be but when looking at the N. Sane Trilogy, Crash received the Stormy Ascent level that could only be reached with a GameShark back on the original version.

Multiple sources report that the remastered Spyro The Dragon Trilogy will be exclusive on PS4 for one year before reaching other platforms. It will also come with PS4 Pro support. This temporary exclusivity is another similarity shared between the upcoming Spyro game and the N. Sane Trilogy. If the success of the N. Sane Trilogy is any indication of the popularity of these classic video game franchises, a Spyro The Dragon remaster has a great chance of succeeding on any platform it reaches.

Old Classics Get New Life

Activision is clearly impressed with the success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and wants to continue offering gamers the content they enjoy. Older titles like Shadow of The Colossus, Crash Bandicoot and now Spyro went down in history as revered classics. It’s been incredible to watch developers like Activision breathe new life into the titles. It gives gamers that may have missed the original releases a second chance to go along for these adventures or longtime fans an opportunity to play these games on modern consoles.

These reports have come from Kotaku UK citing unidentified sources and have yet to be confirmed by Activision. Gigamax Games will be keeping a close eye on how this story continues to develop. Check back on this page for any new details that bubble to the surface. Once March comes around and if Activision makes the official announcement, don’t forget to stop by on GigamaxGames.com for the latest report and any additional insight into the upcoming Spyro remaster.

New ESO Expansion Dragon Bones Launches in February

New ESO Expansion Dragon Bones Launches in February

The next big expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) will be arriving to the game’s various consoles soon. Bethesda released the first details on the upcoming Dragon Bones DLC pack, which is currently set to arrive next month. Besides introducing two new dungeons, it has a host of other new content for players to explore in the popular MMO.

The meat and bones of the Dragon Bones DLC is the set of dungeons named, Scalecaller Peak and Fang Lair. The developer describes the first as “the burial site of a long-dead Dragon Priest,” which is now filled with cultists who plan to unleash a deadly plague upon the world. The second dungeon is an ancient Dwenmer ruin where an evil mage is attempting to revive an ancient dragon.

New Monsters and Old Friends

Players will encounter a host of new monsters contained within the two new dungeons, such as “plague-ridden ogres, powerful sorcerers and their undead creations, and even the reanimated bones of an ancient dragon.” Both will be available in ESO’s Normal and Veteran modes. The harder difficulty will also have a new challenging boss fight at the end of each dungeon which only the strongest can vanquish.

On top of the two new dungeons, the Dragon Bones expansion adds a bunch of new items, monster sets, and achievements. One of the new items players can obtain is named Renegade Dragon Priest Mask, which Skyrim players will recognize from the insanely popular RPG and can be earned by simply entering one of the game’s two new dungeons.

Along with the update’s release, Bethesda will roll out Elder Scrolls Online’s next patch, known as Update 17, which all players can take advantage of.

Update 17 introduces several new aspects to ESO, which includes the ability to make your home a storage space and a new clothing system that lets players customize the appearance of their individual pieces of equipment. The update also adds two new PvP arenas: Mor Khazgur and Deeping Drome. However in order to play Battlegrounds mode, players will need the latest Morrowind expansion. If you’d like to learn more about the upcoming expansion you can find all the details from Bethesda’s website.

5 Worst Video Games and Blunders of 2017

5 Worst Video Games and Blunders of 2017

With the year coming to a close and the Game of The Year announced, it’s time to take a look back at the games that didn’t make the cut. After an absolutely intense Game Awards this year, it can be hard to remember that not every game was a big hit. 2017 was a great year for gaming in some ways but also filled with some grand mistakes. Let’s find out what made the list of the worst video games and blunders of 2017.

Recon Camo Gaming Headset

The Stain on Star Wars Battlefront II

Worst Video Games and Blunders of 2017, star wars battlefront II, EA, loot boxes, gigamax, gigamax games

Star Wars Battlefront II may not have been a bad game but it did get off on the wrong foot. The community was in an uproar when they found out loot boxes offered advantages in the multiplayer. When a game is built around the multiplayer experience, offering an unfair advantage for money will strike a nerve with the gaming community.

These were not your normal Overwatch cosmetic loot boxes, these were much more similar to those found in Free to Play games. Gamers could pay their way to the top, absolutely decimating anyone who refused to participate in EA’s scheme. EA held an AMA with the Reddit community to address concerns about the upcoming title. They were quickly overwhelmed by the anger the community expressed about the loot box system. Ignoring questions and inevitably shutting the microtransactions down the day of release, this game is now stained with this shameless money grab.

Absolver

Worst Video Games and Blunders of 2017, absolver, indie game, gigamax, gigamax games

This was a game that the Gigamax crew was looking forward to for quite some time. A melee based, online fighter where the player can create their own unique combos caught the eye of gamers everywhere. It sounded like it would be an original and exciting fighter with “Dungeon crawling elements” and deliver an expansive online experience. However, after the impressively short story was over, the only thing left to do was run around the astonishing small map and get punched and kicked to collect new moves, collecting rare masks and not much else. Of course, there was a 1v1 online matchmaking experience but that was even lackluster. Even though the developers built this game up in a big way, it quickly fell flat on its face. This is the epitome of a blunder.

Scalebound

Worst Video Games and Blunders of 2017, scalebound, microsoft, gigamax, gigamax games

It’s always upsetting when a game gets canceled. What’s even more upsetting is when the game was promoted with all the might Microsoft Studios had to offer. This game was making its rounds throughout the game community and people were pumped to ride through an amazing world on top of a gigantic dragon. The world was distraught when word broke that this fantastic adventure would never reach stores.

Making headlines in May, Microsoft Studios made the decision public stating “After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound,” a representative told Polygon. When a game makes such impressive rounds throughout the world of gaming media and then get dropped flat on its face, it makes the list of top gaming blunders of 2017.

Destiny 2

Bungie made a statement with the first Destiny game. It rocked the world and was a monumental success right out of the gate. Making claims that it would be a 10-year game, that was quickly proved false after the announcement of their second installment, Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 was supposed to address all the shortcomings gamers complained about in the first game. But after gamers worked their way through an improved campaign, things started to go downhill. With the release of the latest DLC, gamers that previously had access to content without any additional purchases found themselves locked out, forced to purchase the DLC to once again enter the prestige raid.  Lackluster post-release support, shallow content, and a horde of disappointed gamers earned Destiny 2 a spot on this list.

Friday the 13th the Game

Friday the 13th The Game was not a bad game at heart. The Gigamax crew poured hours and hours into this unique indie game, granted a lot of that time was spent waiting for the servers to work. Plagued with server issues, random crashes, and simply being broken from time to time these issues absolutely decimated the value of this imaginative experience.

Even though the developer, Gun Media went out on a limb to build the game, these issues hurt the overall game in a big way. Gamebreaking bugs, unreliable servers, and missteps along the way left a bad taste in gamers mouths. It’s tough out there for an indie developer, hopefully, these issues won’t hurt any future games Gun Media releases.

What do you think should have made the worst video games and blunders of 2017? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter and Facebook. We want to hear from you!

Valkyria Chronicles 4 Officially Announced

Valkyria Chronicles 4 Officially Announced

Sega issued an exciting announcement today. The company officially revealed Valkyria Chronicles 4 and gave it a release window of Spring 2018. Also revealed was that the highly anticipated RPG is making its way to the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

The Next Step In The Adventure

The fourth installment of the series is set in the same timeline as the previous entries, taking place in 1935 with a World War II inspired battle taking place between the Atlantic Federation and the Autocratic Eastern Imperial Alliance. In a press release from Sega they offered more insight into the story behind Valkyria Chronicles 4, “Although the Federation struggles valiantly against the Empire’s forces, the relentless imperial military machine threatens to consume them. With victory slipping away, the Federation executes Operation Northern Cross: a last-ditch attempt to capture the imperial capital and end the war. Commander Claude Wallace and his loyal childhood friends in Squad E are sent to fight for the desperate operation’s success, but they will have to endure harsh bone-chilling elements, waves of imperial soldiers, and the terrifying Valkyria… and unravel a grave truth that will shake them to the core.”

Valkyria Chronicles 4 keeps the same tactical RPG style the previous entries are famous for. Combat is handled in the game’s strange blend of turn-based strategy, RPG, and third-person shooting. A new class is also being added to the game currently known as The Grenadier along with more battleship support options.  The developers are still keeping their unique art style in the game that is inspired by water color paintings.

The long-term composer for the series, Hitoshi Sakimoto, will be returning to make the soundtrack for the game. Sega also released a teaser website for the game to help build hype, but as of now, there isn’t much content to be found.

This is an exciting announcement for anyone that has followed this long-running series since 2008. As we draw closer to Spring of next year, more details are sure to be released so be sure to keep checking back with GigamaxGames.com for all the latest in gaming news and industry updates.

Have Mercy: Blizzard Buffs Popular Healer

Have Mercy: Blizzard Buffs Popular Healer

It seems that every few months Blizzard likes to change the meta for their insanely popular hero based shooter, Overwatch. This time around their monthly update includes changes to the way D.Va and Mercy operate. As of now, these updates are live on the PTR for gamers to test out and fans will notice that those aren’t the only changes.

The most robust overhaul is coming to the popular healer, Mercy, who is getting a completely different ultimate. Not to worry though, she can still resurrect people only now it’s a standard ability. Instead of reviving all her teammates with her ultimate, now it only resurrects one partner within five meters, has a 30 second cool down, and she is not invincible while casting the power.

Mercy, update, d.va, overwatch, overwatch update, gameplay, gigamax, gigamax news, latest games, pc, ps4, xbox one

The Dawn of Valkyrie

Her new ultimate is aptly named Valkyrie, which according to Blizzard “unleashes the full power of Mercy’s Valkyrie suit.” This power buffs both her suit and weapons in an extraordinary way. Check out the full list of what happens when the ultimate activates:

  • Caduceus Staff: Mercy’s healing and damage boost beams now affect all allies near the targeted teammate, and the staff’s effective range has been extended
  • Caduceus Blaster: Granted infinite ammo, while simultaneously increasing damage and fire rate
  • Guardian Angel: Increased range and movement speed
  • Resurrect: Cooldown is instantly reset when Valkyrie is activated and reduced to 10s after the initial cast
  • Hover: Mercy gains the ability to fly freely, at increased movement speed
  • Regeneration (Passive): No longer interrupted when Mercy takes damage

Blizzard explains why they decided to update the beloved healer, “While resurrecting downed allies is a core part of Mercy’s gameplay, the way her Ultimate functioned was causing a number of problems,” they continued “It was frustrating to play against, and it incentivized Mercy players to hide away from important battles, instead of taking part in them. This version turns Resurrect into a single target ability. It’s still an important part of Mercy’s kit, but plays much better for both Mercy players and her enemies. Valkyrie, the new Ultimate, gives her the opportunity to make big game-making plays and opens a number of new options for her.”

Nerf This

Also new to the update are Blizzards previously detailed and controversial changes to the way D.Va plays. To make her a more formidable attacker she’s been given a cluster of micro-missiles as well as the ability to fly and shoot at the same time. Sound a little unfair? It probably is and that’s why they are also nerfing the recharge rate of her defense matrix. Finally, the only other character change is while Reinhardt has his shield up players can click the attack button and spin the camera 360 degrees.

Overwatch fans are certainly voicing their opinions on the latest changes and as usual they range from anger to overt happiness. We hear at Gigamax just love to watch the chaos following a dramatic update to this insanely popular game. It is not surprising that fans get so emotional during these times considering how invested many players are and the competitive nature of the game.

New Hellblade Patch Fixes Tons of Bugs

New Hellblade Patch Fixes Tons of Bugs

It has been a little over a week since Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was released and the developers are already patching a variety of bugs that have been plaguing players. While the independently developed game was praised as one of the best games to come out this year, it certainly had its issues. That’s why the developer, Ninja Theory, rushed to get this patch out detailed here on their blog.

Hellblade

There were bugs that would break the game or stop character progression entirely and these were the first to be addressed. They also fix a variety of collision issues that would send the player out of the game world and make it impossible to proceed. PC players will also be happy to hear that an issue involving the menu not loading has been patched.

There’s No Stopping Ninja Theory

Ninja Theory doesn’t plan on stopping either. The blog post also detailed that they’re still hard at work looking into bug reports so expect more updates in the near future. One patch, in particular, is the performance issues that PC players with AMD GPUs have experienced.

Below we have a full list of the patch notes that you can also find on Ninja Theory’s blog. While releasing broken games should never be acceptable, it’s hard for a small development team to take care of all the issues right at launch, sometimes it takes time for the community to find the problems and aid in pointing out where they are. Hellblade was an excellent game that should be in every gamers library especially after the patch. Gigamax managed to beat the game while only encountering one game breaking bug. If you’ve had issues make sure you report it to support@hellblade.com.

Patch Notes:

-Fixed a crash that could happen if two Keep Guard enemies are standing close to each other and one dies.
-Russian subtitles for the Hellblade feature have been added.
-Fixed an issue where the audio would be out of sync with the Hellblade feature if it has been paused for an extended period of time.
-Fixed an issue where the Baldr Masks in the Tower Shard level are white on the inside.
-Fixed scenarios resulting in unlit geometry after reloading from checkpoint.
-Fixed a potential progression stopping bug in the Fenrir Cave by the ‘M’ rune door puzzle.
-Fixed potential progression stopping bug in Fenrir Cave due to check pointing after skipping a lit region.
-Fixed potential progression stopping bug in Fenrir Cave if player fails to collect floor rune after combat and subsequently dies.
-Fixed collision issues that could allow players to unintentionally exit the game world.
-Fixed audio cut-out issues.
-Added audio cues for hidden faces.
-Fixed audio hard cut at the end of various cut scenes.
-Fixes for audio lip sync issues.
-Audio balancing fixes.
-Various subtitle localisation fixes across a number of languages.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: Update Hit A Snag

PUBG’s Update Hit A Snag

Bluehole had some upsetting news for fans of PUBG as the highly anticipated Public Test Server update was put on hold. According to the developer, “the test server build is not stable enough to roll out.”(http://bit.ly/2u2wodh). The patch they have lined up is a substantial one, including new weapons, skins, and a car horn. Due to complications with a client crash bug, the July monthly update will now be moved to the 3rd of August.

PUBG, playerunknown battlegrounds, pc gaming, pubg update, gigamax, gigamax games

See what’s waiting for players in the next big patch and find a preview of just how big PUBG is becoming.

What You Can Expect

Honk Honk!

One of the additions to the patch which made people lose their minds is the addition of a horn. Drivers can now honk their horns which will default to the left mouse button. Tweet after Tweet, people expressed their approval as though this filled a serious void within the battleground.

The New Boom Stick

Get ready for a new weapon, the Mark 14 Enhanced Battle Rifle. The Mk14 EBR, chambered in 7.62 will accept all sniper attachments and have a selective fire option, too. This means players can either use it to sweep a room or pick off enemies at a distance. It will be exclusive to crates, so expect this new gun to be falling out of the sky August 3rd.

A New Look

Ready for a makeover? PUBG’s monthly update will include its first new face presets and new hairstyles. These will come at a cost and are expected to be priced at 3,000 in-game currency.

Time To Get Hardcore

First-Person Only servers will be one of the most impressive game changing updates that have come to PUBG. Creating a more hardcore shooter experience, players will have the option to choose between standard and first-person only servers. This means looking around corners or over cover will expose a player instead of them having the ability to just move around the camera.

PUBG, playerunknown battlegrounds, pc gaming, pubg update, gigamax, gigamax games

This option will cater to the more hardcore crowd but could also be a nice change of pace for casual players. It will be important to keep in mind the lean buttons (defaulted to Q and E) which will greatly increase a players chance of survival.

The Usual

Bluehole will, of course, be sticking to their regular maintenance with the latest patch. A few UI changes, user experience update, and server stability will be included. For a more detailed look at the subtle changes, take a look at Blueholes official announcement.

PUBG Just Keeps On Growing

PUBG just hit a major milestone. Selling over 6 million copies according to Bluehole and the game also reached a new concurrent peak personal record of 481,291. This substantial growth has put PUBG ahead of Fallout 4 in the Steam charts. Indie games continue to surpass all expectations. With games like PUBG making headlines and breaking records, there’s no telling what the future has in store for indie developers and their artwork.

Dead Matter: A True Zombie Survival Game

Dead Matter: A True Zombie Survival Game

Every fan of zombie fiction has at some point asked themselves “what would I do in a zombie apocalypse?” The indie developer, Quantum Integrity, is looking to help answer this question with their upcoming sandbox survival game Dead Matter. Originally developed as a mod for Crysis 2 back in 2013, the team behind the game put their heart and soul behind this project and it shows. With multiplayer, near endless customization, a humongous living world, and full mod support Dead Matter is quickly becoming the zombie survival experience everyone has been waiting for.

Kickstarter & A Dream

Quantum Integrity boasts on their Kickstarter page that Dead Matter is “true sandbox survival horror.” Players will get to fight through the zombie apocalypse however they see fit. That can include setting up a home base and defending it with their expansive crafting or barricading system all while cultivating the land or wandering the wasteland scavenging whatever tools, vehicles, weapons, and the food they can find. Set in the province of Alberta, Canada players will be able to experience the game alone or with friends as the developer intends to support both play styles equally.

Freedom of expression is an important design choice for Quantum Integrity. Customization features have been at the core of Dead Matter since the games original inception. It starts with the character design where hair, head, and body can all be changed to whatever the player desires. When actually playing the game, customization extends to nearly every facet of the experience including weapons, vehicles, and buildings. Want to wrap a baseball bat in barbed wire? Go right ahead.  Strapping C4 onto a programmable alarm clock? Perfectly fine! Turn the family van into a zombie survivalist’s dream ride? Strap some defenses and gun racks on that bad boy and call it a day.

Alberta, Canada: Zombie Paradise

In order to help nurture the ideas of their player base, the developer built a stunning recreation of Alberta that contains the lush wilderness of the Rockies and extends to the once bustling city of Calgary. Designed to simulate true survival any simple trip for supplies could turn into a battle against soldiers, raiders, or a family just doing what they have to in order to survive. The world was also fully designed in order to support the player’s settlements. Every building in the game is made to be barricaded, upgraded, and fitted with electricity and running water. All of the land can be farmed and the lakes can be fished. Live in the shadows of the city and survive in the wild or work together with the community to retake the city of Calgary by taking control of dams, transformers, and bridges.

Finally, to assert their connection with the fan base and support where the game got its start, Quantum Integrity comes packed with full mod support. All of the procedural generation tools are being put into the players’ hands as well as C++ and Blueprint access. Any user can host their own server complete with all of their own settings and mods completely free of charge. The team over at Quantum Integrity are modders at their core and it shows through their devotion to the modding community.

Dead Matter looks like an amazing survival experience that we just couldn’t wait to back on Kickstarter. If this game sounds appealing to you, don’t forget to show the team some support by throwing them some money or showing them love on social media. We can’t wait to get our hands on this gem so be sure to keep checking back for more information as the game continues through its development process!
