Yooka Laylee Spit N’ Polish Update Out Now

Earlier this year the developers behind Yooka Laylee, Playtonic Games, launched an update for the PC version titled “Spit N’ Polish.” This update fixed many peoples issues with the platformer that was inspired by the glory days of Banjo-Kazooie and as of yesterday, the patch has been added to the PS4 and Xbox One editions of the game.

One of the many changes that the indie developer made was a new optional camera that gives the player way more control over where they can position the once fidgety system. This seemed to be one of the main concerns of the Spit N’ Polish update as many reviewers considered the camera to be a major downside to the experience.

In addition to the new camera, the game also makes adjustments to the game’s flying and first person aim controls, the ability to skip cutscenes and dialogue, an option to shorten the iconic “gibberish” voice acting, and tons more that Playtonic detailed on their Spit N’ Polish blog post.

Some of the bigger changes include:

  • Pagies have added signposts to Hivory Towers to help guide players to new worlds
  • Design tweaks to all arcade games
  • Improved speed when scrolling through Totals Menu
  • New moves section added to pause menu, with image guide
  • Restart option added in the pause menu during arcade games and Kartos challenges
  • “Sonar-able” objects now have clearer visual identity
  • Laser move no longer requires player to crouch
  • Improved Transformation controls
  • Minecart control and hitbox improvements
  • Improved Rampo boss fight
  • Performance improvements

Playtonic is still hard at work on the Nintendo Switch version,  set to replace the canceled Wii U version of Yooka Laylee. No release date has been set for their return to Nintendo but Playtonic tweeted a picture of the game running on the new console so hopefully, we’ll see it soon. The developer also detailed that the Switch version would come with the Spit N’ Polish update already implemented.

Necromancer Ready For Its Debut

Necromancer Ready For Its Debut

Finally, Blizzard announces a release date for the Necromancer in Diablo 3. Expected to drop June 27th, both long time Diablo fans and those new to the series are ecstatic about the news. For a long time, Diablo 3 players were promised this new class with very little information on when they will actually receive the update. But now, the time has come.

Gamers will only have to wait a few days to get their hands on the expansion. Those looking for an excuse to redownload or pick the game up again, now have the perfect reason to go back. Even though the class was compared to the Witch Doctor, the developers had to make some changes to the core game to accommodate its unique gameplay.

The Necromancer Stands Out

Let’s take a look at what makes the necromancer stand out and why it might have taken so long to make it available to everyone. One of the main obstacles the developers had to hurdle was the lack of corpses in the original release. When Travis Day, Sr. Game Designer was asked about this, he explained they added enemy corpses when a necromancer is on the map. This may have been one of the leading causes of the hold up in regard to its release.

While the necromancer may have been a headache for the developers, it’s also a treat for the community. A melee focused Necromancer will still be possible in Diablo 3 and the popular summon, Golems will be making an appearance. Unfortunately they will be taking out the poison aspect of the class but the bone skill tree will remain.

Diablo 3 Patch 2.5.0 Explained in Detail

Diablo 3 Patch 2.5.0 Explained

Diablo 3 just dropped a major update and there are some big changes coming to both console and PC. Those waiting anxiously for the Diablo 3 Patch that includes the Necromancer.. Sorry, this patch isn’t for you. However, there’s still room to be excited as Blizzard pulled the carpet out from underneath the Diablo community.

The Armory Is Here

The first major change will be the Armory feature which was first announced at BlizzCon last year. This new features lets players store up to five different skill and armor builds for each character. This really has the potential to open up the game. Diablo 3 has a unique feature when compared with the previous versions, a character doesn’t have to commit to a skill set. This means players can now seamlessly switch between skill sets and match it with armor sets that will contribute to those skills. It seems minor, but this can really open up the game and entice players to experiment with new builds.

Another exciting addition that’ll clear up some bag space is the change that crafting materials (Arcane Dust or Forgotten Souls) will not fill up your inventory. These items will now be moved to a separate area. Materials that you are already holding will automatically be moved. This will free up some space to gather all the loot your heart desires. A little floating message will pop up above the character’s head which will keep you up to date on how many you have.

Time To Get Serious

Serious players now have a new item to grind for in 2.5.0. Primal Ancients are extremely rare items, guaranteed to have perfect Ancient-level stats and the maximum amount of sockets possible. Primal Ancients will only be available after a player reaches Greater Rift 70 solo with one of the characters on their account. After meeting the prerequisite, any of the items you find will be for the class you’re playing with when it drops. This also means something else for the community. It gives players a reason to grind out and improve their character to run these Rifts solo, rather than just leaching experience and items off of Greater Rifts that are way above their ability.

The updates don’t stop there. Adventure mode is next on the chopping block as they reduced the chance certain tile sets will appear in Greater Rifts. Furthermore, the highest solo Greater Rift completion will now determine which torment levels will be available, instead of Paragon level. Also, Bonus Acts are no longer a part of the game. Completing any Act will net the same rewards as the Bonus Acts.

A fun little addition is the game now allows players to assign Paragon points 100 at a time. All people have to do is hold the Ctrl key on PC.

Seasons On Console

Those on console will be introduced to Seasons. The first will start on March 31st and will be essentially the same as the PC version, where you will start a fresh character who can’t access the bank.

This is a pretty serious Diablo 3 Patch. But, we’re still waiting for that Necromancer class to drop. Be sure to check back on Gigamax Games for the latest coverage of Diablo 3 and more!

Battlefield 1 Four DLC Details Revealed with Gigamax

Battlefield 1 – Four DLC’s Explained

Battlefield 1 is a fantastic step forward in EA and DICE’s franchise and they’re getting ready to drop four new DLC’s. A detailed look into these unique expansions has become available and below you’ll find a breakdown of each one. With so many great games being released, it’s impressive Battlefield still has the strength to pull the community back in time and time again. Take a look and see what’s in store.

The upcoming expansions will be available as individual purchases, or free for Premium Pass holders. As of now, the Premium Pass costs $50 so maybe ‘free’ isn’t the right term.

Players will have a chance to play as the World War 1 era French army, fighting across four French maps. The Car 2C tank also makes an appearance in the DLC which is the game’s newest behemoth class vehicle. This is by far the most highly covered of the four expansions as it’s currently available on the Community Test Environment.

“In The Name of the Tsar”

The second expansion puts the player directly in the front lines with the Russian army, ready to ride along with the “legendary Hussars.” The historic Brusilov offensive and Albion assault are the primary theme of the second DLC.

“Turning Tides”

Battlefield 1 is taking to the sea in this expansion focused on naval warfare. A new destroyer and coastal class airship will become available which is going to add even more diversity to this already unique first-person shooter. Players will be tossed into the hell of war as they take part in the Zeebrugge raid and storm the beaches of Gallipoli.

This expansion will include some of the most “infamous battles of WW1.” This is where some of the most “brutal tools and unique weapons” will rear their ugly heads. When faced with tremendous obstacles, people will do whatever it takes to survive. Desperation and deadlock describes World War I perfectly and the weapons making their way to this fourth expansion will be a testament to that fact.

Battlefield 1 has delivered so much entertainment and this is the perfect time to release an expansion of this size. This is not to say the game was getting stale, but it’s definitely time to learn some new maps, weapons and find ourselves in some new crazy situations.

Final Fantasy XV Update Frenzy – New DLC and More! with GIGAMAX

Final Fantasy XV Update Frenzy

Final Fantasy XV Update:  The creators finally address the highly criticized 13th Chapter. However, this isn’t the only update the game will receiving. A slew of updates will begin releasing starting on Feb. 21. The director, Hajime Tabata offered up this information during their live-stream dedicated to Final Fantasy XV.

The first update will be primarily for the PlayStation 4 Pro. Available on Feb21st, this update comes along with the “booster pack” DLC. After this update, Final Fantasy XV will run at 60fps. Along with this performance update, players will now be able to listen to music while riding the chocobo. We here at gigamax don’t agree with installing radio’s on animals… But I digress. Additionally, the level cap will be raised to 120.

Next up will be the highly anticipated Chapter 13 update which releases on March 28th. This update also comes along side the “Episode Gladiolus” DLC. The Chapter 13 update will include various improvements to the notoriously slow last chapter. Facing an outcry from fans, Tobata ensured they will fix some of the issues they’ve heard about. However, few details were offered about what content will be included in the updated final hours. One exciting detail that was offered was that Gladiolus will be a playable character during this section of the game. The update is perfectly timed as the ‘Episode Gladiolus’ DLC allows players to use the character throughout its duration.

Don’t Rush

Initially, gamers thought the developers ended up rushing Chapter 13 but Tobata quickly dismissed those claims. “The direction of chapter 13’s content was a deliberate decision made by the development team,” he explained. “That said, the amount of stress inflicted on the player while running through this chapter was greater than we had anticipated. We believe resolving this issue will naturally lead to a better gameplay experience.” (

This outlines all the content detailed in the Final Fantasy Live Stream. However, the new content still doesn’t end there. Tobata revealed an ‘Episode Prompto” DLC will release in June. One of our favorite characters, this should be an exciting and humorous addition to Final Fantasy XV.

Expected in the future, an update will allow Noctis to take the Regalia off-road. No other details are available and no release date was set. This is a feature that will truly offer an exciting experience for our second play through.
