Diablo 3 Cosmetic Rewards Incoming

Some of the new cosmetic rewards players can earn include the Helm and Shoulder Armor of the Conquerer Set. Fans are also able to earn a new portrait frame and the Wings of Lempo, which are designed after those on a monarch butterfly. Players that create a Seasonal Character will be given the buffs associated with the "Ring of Royal Grandeur", which will make it easier to earn set bonuses and create unique armor combinations.

Those that take part in Season 16 will have the opportunity to receive an extra stash tab by completing seasonal challenges. New conquests also offer their own rewards for those willing to take them on. Blizzard's official blog grants a closer look at Season 16's challenges and the rewards associated with them.

Quality of Life, Improved!

The blog post highlights the quality of life changes that Blizzard has implemented, including removing legendary potions from players inventory to clear up space. One of the biggest and most requested changes has been made to Primal Legendaries, which will now shine a beam of light and be marked on the mini map so they are almost impossible to miss. Players are not able to earn Primal Legendaries until they've completed their first Greater Rift 70 or higher on solo play. With such a difficult item to obtain, this beam of light and marking the items on players minimaps will make sure no gamer gets ripped off.

We here at Gigamax are big fans of the Diablo series and can't wait to start earning the latest rewards in the action RPG. For all the latest details on Diablo 3, be sure to keep checking back with us here at GigamaxGames.com.

Blizzard Cuts Back Heroes of the Storm Development

Things are not looking good for Blizzard's MOBA, Heroes of the Storm, a title that blended together all of the company's games like Overwatch, Diablo, Starcraft, and World of Warcraft. The president of Blizzard, J. Allen Brack, and chief development officer, Ray Gresko, announced today that developers are being pulled from the game and being transferred to different projects within the company.

In a press release that was made public today, Brack and Gresko said that it was a difficult decision to make and it will ultimately impact the future of the game.

“Over the past several years, the work of evaluating our development processes and making hard decisions has led to new games and other products that we’re proud of,” Blizzard said. “We now have more live games and unannounced projects than at any point in the company’s history. We’re also at a point where we need to take some of our talented developers and bring their skills to other projects. As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to shift some developers from Heroes of the Storm to other teams, and we’re excited to see the passion, knowledge, and experience that they’ll bring to those projects. This isn’t the first time we’ve had to make tough choices like this. Games like Diablo II, World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, Overwatch, and more would not exist had we not made similar decisions in the past.”

This Isn't the End for Heroes of the Storm

The company assured they will continue development of the title, supporting the game with new characters and events, but the time between these updates will increase. According to the two executives, this is to set up Heroes of the Storm for long-term sustainability.

Unfortunately, this news also means that Blizzard had to cancel both of their planned eSports events for Heroes of the Storm. The pro-level tournament, Heroes Global Championship, and the collegiate level contest, Heroes of the Dorm will get the axe.

Tough Call for Blizzard

“[A]fter looking at all of our priorities and options in light of the change with the game, the Heroes Global Championship and Heroes of the Dorm will not return in 2019,” the press release read. “This was another very difficult decision for us to make. The love that the community has for these programs is deeply felt by everyone who works on them, but we ultimately feel this is the right decision versus moving forward in a way that would not meet the standards that players and fans have come to expect.”

It is a shame that this is the beginning of the end for a game that many enjoyed so much. Blizzard is making a responsible move by reallocating employees internally rather than laying people off. The MOBA space has plenty of competition in today's market and it looks like Heroes of the Storm couldn't keep up with games like League of Legends and DOTA. We here at Gigamax will keep a close eye on these deveopments, so be sure to check back here at GigamaxGames.com for all the latest details.

Diablo Immortal Announced for Mobile Platforms

The Diablo series spent most of its life tied down to the PC, but recently Blizzard introduced the series to consoles with Diablo III. Now, they're transitioning the game over to mobile platforms with a new title named, Diablo Immortal.

Diablo Immortal Mobile Game

Blizzard made this surprising announcement during the Blizzcon 2018 opening ceremony, revealing the brand new mobile Diablo game. The company claims that they are going to uphold their value of gameplay first and ensure that it feels like the Diablo fans all know and love. Diablo Immortal is described as full-fledged action RPG that users can play anytime, anywhere, and with anyone. The title is being developed in collaboration with NetEase, a Chinese company that has helped Blizzard port their games over to the country.

Diablo Immortal plans to fill in the story between Diablo II and Diablo III. It will follow characters that fans will recognize like Tyrael, Malthael, and other returning favorites. Blizzard also played a cinematic trailer that focused on the story after the destruction of the Worldstone, eventually leading to an entertaining action sequence that revealed the classes included in the game.

Blizzard offered a look at how the game will perform on mobile devices with a short gameplay trailer. The gameplay is easily recognizable and even features all the classes from Diablo III. New abilities for each class will be available along with an expansive new world to explore. Online multiplayer is a core function of the game with the trailer showing upwards of 6 characters on the screen at once.

While this certainly wasn't the news fans expected, it will be interesting to see what Blizzard has planned for this controversial game. We'll be sure to keep a close eye on Diablo Immortal so check back here at GigamaxGames.com for all the latest details!

Diablo 3’s Darkening of Tristram Event Returns

Diablo 3's Darkening of Tristram Event Returns

We're about to step into the new year and as any loyal Diablo 3 fan knows, that means the Darkening of Tristram even is about to go live. Last year marked the 20th anniversary of the popular dungeon crawler and this annual event was created to celebrate the occasion. More than just a small update, the developers recreated one of the original dungeons and dropped it into Diablo 3. This included the pixelated graphics, stiffer animations, and other old-school visual elements. Fans around the world loved Blizzards tribute to the series and it's about to come back.

Taking A Trip Down Memory Lane

"Your journey begins on the trail of a group of mysterious cultists causing trouble in Sanctuary. As you hunt them down in Adventure Mode, you’ll uncover clues leading to a portal into Tristram’s past, and the terrifying darkness that took hold of the town so many years ago," Blizzard said.

"Follow the clues and you’ll soon find yourself in a realm of glorious RetroVision™, where an all-too-familiar cathedral looms. Explore the depths and you’ll discover familiar enemies and iconic items, all brought to life in the Diablo III engine. Meanwhile, deep beneath the catacombs, the Dark Lord himself awaits any intrepid adventurer who dares to challenge him." (http://blizz.ly/2DtuUc4)

Has Anything Changed?

If this all sounds very familiar, that's because it is. In the comments on the blog post, many Diablo 3 players are saying this appears to be the same exact event they held last year. Some fans are excited that they'll have a second chance to earn all the loot they missed the first time around, but most are upset Blizzard hasn't announced anything new. The only clue the developer left to lead longtime fans to believe that they could earn anything new is a quote stating that players can earn "unique transmogrification effects, achievements, portraits, pets, and more."

The Darkening of Tristram begins at midnight PT on January 1 and runs until January 30. For all of those that missed last years event, take a look at the video above as the Gigamax crew explores this magical event.

Necromancer Ready For Its Debut

Necromancer Ready For Its Debut

Finally, Blizzard announces a release date for the Necromancer in Diablo 3. Expected to drop June 27th, both long time Diablo fans and those new to the series are ecstatic about the news. For a long time, Diablo 3 players were promised this new class with very little information on when they will actually receive the update. But now, the time has come.

Gamers will only have to wait a few days to get their hands on the expansion. Those looking for an excuse to redownload or pick the game up again, now have the perfect reason to go back. Even though the class was compared to the Witch Doctor, the developers had to make some changes to the core game to accommodate its unique gameplay.

The Necromancer Stands Out

Let's take a look at what makes the necromancer stand out and why it might have taken so long to make it available to everyone. One of the main obstacles the developers had to hurdle was the lack of corpses in the original release. When Travis Day, Sr. Game Designer was asked about this, he explained they added enemy corpses when a necromancer is on the map. This may have been one of the leading causes of the hold up in regard to its release.

While the necromancer may have been a headache for the developers, it’s also a treat for the community. A melee focused Necromancer will still be possible in Diablo 3 and the popular summon, Golems will be making an appearance. Unfortunately they will be taking out the poison aspect of the class but the bone skill tree will remain.

Diablo 3: Rise of the Necromancer Q&A Recap – GIGAMAX

Necromancer, Back From The Dead

Blizzard kept the hype train for their upcoming Necromancer DLC rolling last night. In a Facebook live event they released a ton of details on how the new class will behave. Unfortunately no release date was announced, but the term “near future” was thrown around quite a bit. Another downside to the event was the lack of gameplay or screenshots, although the developers said that was  something players could expect to see soon.

Source: http://blizz.ly/2fKMNMS

Right off the bat it was asked how close the Diablo 3 Necromancer will feel to the one from Diablo 2. Lead FX artist, Julian Love and Sr. Game Designer, Travis Day were speaking on behalf of the team. They ensured it would keep the true spirit of the class which was exciting. When asked how they would operate with the lack of corpses in Diablo 3, the devs clarified that they added enemy corpses when a necromancer is on the map. They also mentioned that the poison aspect of the class will be removed but the Necromancer will still have the bone skill tree.

Next up was whether or not a melee focused Necromancer would be possible. Thankfully it is still a viable option. There will be plenty of gear added for a melee build . The class is also keeping its popular revive and corpse explosion abilities. Necromancers are able to hold any weapon that’s not class specific as well as their own unique weapon, the two handed scythe.

Golems Are Back!

The popular summon, Golems, will also make a return. As of now, they have 3 Golems designed and they’re adding new ones themed toward Diablo 3. Blizzard also assured that they are adding multiple different types of play styles for the class. Mostly centered around pets, auras and melee abilities, the class seems as though it will have a familiar feel from those in Diablo 2.  They also addressed the similarities between the Witch Doctor and Necromancer saying that the classes are very different and that fans shouldn’t worry. Two of the biggest differences are Necromancers  will have skills revolving around self damage and have a lack of damage over time abilities.

Seasons Coming To Consoles

One more piece of exciting information that did not pertain to the Necromancer, was that seasons are coming to consoles. The popular “ladder” like event that gets new challenges every couple of months has long been absent from console versions of the game. In the comments section of the stream, the official Diablo account said that players can expect more information on the console season themed patch soon.

This was not all the information shared, if you’d like to hear all the info check out the video of the live Q&A embedded below! Since there is no gameplay or screenshots, it can be turned on and listened to like a podcast in the background. We are pumped to finally have more information on this famous class and can’t wait to get our hands on it. Make sure to check back with Gigamax Games when the class is officially released for videos, articles, and streams pertaining to the Necromancer.

Diablo 3: The Darkening of Tristram | Gigamax Inside Look

Diablo 3 The Darkening of Tristram portal

Diablo 3: The Darkening of Tristram

The Darkening of Tristram is a return to Diablo's roots and a  nostalgic look back for many of the series long time players. This update adds a 16 level dungeon that contains every unique monster from the original Diablo. Unfortunately this new area will only be accessible in January and 2017 is the first year it will be running. Along with the monsters ,The Darkening of Tristram adds much more from the first game as well.

Included are most of the events and bosses. These boss characters include The Butcher, Skeleton King, and Diablo himself. Unique bosses and monsters will always drop top tier magic items from the first game such as King's Sword of Haste or Archangel's Staff. The only downside to these items is that at maximum level, they aren't very useful for long time heroes. Monsters have the same name they did in Diablo I but use graphical assets from Diablo III with slight recolors. Some enemies have their original abilities, but if their was no Diablo III equivalent the developers used the closest thing to match.

Diablo Nostalgia Trip

The original quests from the first Diablo appear as well, although most of these quests are shadows of their former selves. For example, the quest "Poisoned Water" was a long journey to clean the water supply of Tristram and now it only involves finding a Resplendent Chest. Players are given access to all the quests in the beginning and rewards are dropped in the form of magic items with unique graphics and text but there's no gameplay value to these items. NPC's from the original game also make an appearance. Fan favorites like Pepin, Griswold, Farnham, and Ogden show up in their respective "corpse" forms. These characters don't do much but are all involved in a secret quest which replaces the old "Black Mushroom" quest.

There are many rewards for completing the dungeon. To start, there are banner elements for each boss. Players are also able to obtain two unique pets and two Transmogrification weapons. Portraits can be acquired by killing all the unique enemies and finding all 7 pages scattered around the dungeon.

To get into this new area players must travel to The Old Ruins of Tristram and enter a portal next to the fountain. The new zone is called Tristram and every one of the levels is called "Labyrinth".

Overview

This update is an awesome addition but we only wish it was around for longer than just a month. All of that aside it's obvious Blizzard knows how to celebrate a 20th anniversary. Hopefully this update will lead into their Rise of the Necromancer DLC, which adds a new Necromancer class from Diablo II. Make sure to keep checking back with Gigamax games for all the most recent Diablo updates.
