Team Rocket Makes Their Return To Pokemon Go

Team Rocket is back again on Pokemon Go. This group of villains made a hasty return to the mobile game and now it's time to see what trouble they're stirring up.

Team Rocket made their debut to Pokemon Go earlier this week, the nefarious group would invade PokeStops and attack players with Shadow Pokemon. Although they did not stay around for long, leaving only after a few days. Team Rocket is already ready to make their return, reappearing with greater numbers and brining new Special Research Quests along with them.

Team Rocket Pokemon Go Trailer

Players can encounter Team Rocket Grunts upon spinning certain PokeStops, which are identified by their special appearance. On the overworld view of the map, these locations will look darker and twitch at random intervals. When walking nearer, trainers will notice they are colored black instead of blue. After spinning the Photo Disc at the special PokeStops, a Team Rocket Grunt will reveal themselves and challenge the player.

These enemies carry Shadow Pokemon that have glowing red eyes and are surrounded by a dark aura. After beating the Grunt, they'll leave behind their Pokemon giving players a chance to capture the beast. Once a trainer captures the monster they can purify it at the cost of Candy and Stardust.

Purify that Pokemon!

The purification ritual will not only cleanse the Pokemon but it also gives it a stat boost. On top of that, purified Pokemon will cost less Candy and Stardust to level up, giving players even more of a reason to purify the corrupted monsters.

To go along with the Team Rocket invasion, Niantic released a Special Research questline called A Troubling Situation. After starting up the game, Professor Willow will give players their first group of tasks.

There's certainly plenty going on in the world of Pokemon Go, with a special One Piece crossover event currently underway. This event gives trainers the opportunity to capture Pikachus wearing straw hats. Armored Mewtwo is also the game's current Legendary but is scheduled to depart on July 31st. Finally, the game's next community day has been announced. That will occur on August 3rd with the featured Pokemon being Ralts.

Pokemon Sword/Shield Producer Understands National Dex Criticism

Pokemon Sword/Shield are the next main titles in the long-running monster training series. The two games hit the Nintendo Switch this November alongside the new Pokemon Home service that allows players to transfer their Pokemon from older titles in the new games.

Fans learned at this year's E3 that not all monsters will be allowed to transfer to the Pokemon Sword/Shield, a decision that has ultimately led to backlash from the series' biggest supporters. Now the producer behind Pokemon, Junichi Masuda, responded to the criticism from fans.

This comes from a message shared on the official Pokemon website, Masuda begins by expressing gratitude toward fans for being so passionate about the series and reiterates that the decision to remove some monsters was not made easily. "Just like all of you, we are passionate about Pokemon and each and every one of them is very important to us. After so many years of developing the Pokemon video games, this was a very difficult decision for me," Masuda said.

Pokemon Sword/Shield Missing Some Classics

Although these monsters may not make it to Pokemon Sword/Shield, that doesn't mean they're gone from the series forever. "I'd like to make one thing clear: even if a specific Pokemon is not available in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, that does not mean it will not appear in future games."

Masuda first made this revelation during a Treehouse Live demo during E3 2019. He acknowledged that this decision was a departure from how the developer typically handles Pokemon titles and said this was ultimately due to development time.

"In previous games that worked with the Pokemon Bank service, you were able to--for example, in Sun and Moon--bring over any Pokemon, even if they weren't in the Alola Pokedex. But with the transition to the Nintendo Switch hardware, being much more powerful [and] allowing us to be much more expressive with each of the individual Pokemon...at Game Freak we really spent a lot of time thinking about what the best way to move forward was, really preserving the quality of all the different Pokemon while also taking into account the battle balance, having so many different Pokemon available, all within a limited development time so we don't keep fans waiting too long for every new entry in the series. And after a lot of discussion, we decided to come to a new direction."

Pokemon Sword/Shield release for the Nintendo Switch on November 15th. The games will take place in the new Galar region. It is currently unknown how many new and different creatures will appear in the Galar region's Pokedex, but Nintendo has already offered a look at some of the new creatures. We'll keep a close eye out for any new details regarding Pokemon Sword/Shield so be sure to keep checking back with us here at GigamaxGames.com for all the latest details.

From July 1st through September, each Research Breakthrough a trainer achieves will lead to an opportunity to catch one of a few legendaries including Latios, Latias, Kyogre, or Groudon. On top of that, trainers will have the chance to obtain a unique Spinda with a new spot pattern through Field Research tasks, and a lucky few will have a chance at the Shiny version.

Field Research tasks are obtained through spinning Photo-Discs at Poke Stops. Fans don't need to wait for the July's Field Research to obtain the legendary Kyogre. The water type is currently available in standard raid battles until June 27th, when Groudon will take the spot. Niantic is also bringing back the legendary thunder dog Raikou for a brief period of time. This comes as a reward for trainers completing enough Global Challenges during the recent Pokemon Go Fest. Raikou Raid Day will be held on Saturday, June 29th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time.

Shiny Meltan Returning To Pokemon Go For A Limited Time

For trainers that missed their chance to catch a Shiny Meltan back in February, Niantic is offering up a second opportunity. The Meltan themed event is returning to the game on Wednesday, April 24th, where fans can add this elusive Shiny Mythical Beast to their collection.

Meltan is Back!

Meltan is unique in Pokemon Go due to the fact that trainers need a specific item known as a Mystery Box in order to summon the monster. Normally, after opening the Mystery Box players have 30 minutes to catch as many Meltan as they can find, then after the allotted time, they need to wait another 7 days before opening the box again. During the Meltan event, Niantic has decreased the box spawn time from 7 days to only 3 days, allowing fans to catch way more monsters than they could before.

Players will have a chance to catch a Shiny Meltan every time they open the Mystery Box. This beast can be distinguished by its darker head and blue tail. Trainers that are able to capture a Shiny Meltan can evolve the monster into a Shiny Melmetal. Unfortunately, players will only have until May 5th to capture a Shiny Meltan, so act quickly if you'd like to capture one.

Niantic is not waiting long after the Meltan event ends to host their next Community Day event, which is scheduled for Sunday, May 19th. This time around Community Day will focus on the Gen 3 starter, Torchic. Players will also be able to earn triple the amount of Stardust during May's Community Day event.

Nintendo Reveals Pokemon Sword and Shield

Nintendo celebrated Pokemon Day in a big way this year, with a special Nintendo Direct that revealed generation 8 of the long running monster catching series. Titled Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, these two games are set to release in late 2019. Below you'll find the reveal trailer which gives you a look at the two titles in action.

Pokemon Sword and Shield Reveal Trailer

The new games are set in the fictional region of Galar, which seems to be modeled after Britain. Nintendo also revealed the three new starters that trainers will get to choose between: Grookey the grass monkey, Scorbunny the fire bunny, and Sobble the sad water chameleon. While gameplay was revealed during the Direct, an extensive view was not given, merely little snippets. The biggest takeaway from the clips is that random encounters are coming back to the game.

The Pokemon Company had first revealed that they were working on new Pokemon titles at E3 back in 2017. Other than that, the developer has been tight lipped on details besides the fact that they are core titles and will launch this year.

We like the monkey... He's nice

The company made the wise decision to categorize them as core games since their last two titles Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee were not traditional Pokemon games. Instead, these two games were intended to bridge the gap between Pokemon Go and the core series to help ease new players into Sword and Shield.

We here at Gigamax are incredibly excited for the next generation of Pokemon and can't wait to get our hands on the games. For more information on these titles, be sure to check back with us here at GigamaxGames.com!

Pokemon Go Adds Team Changing Medallion

It may have taken two years, but Pokemon Go is finally adding the ability to switch teams. The new item that will allow this is called the Team Medallion, which Niantic says will go on sale in the game's store starting February 26th and will allow players to switch teams once.

The Team Medallion does not come cheap though, with each one costing 1,000 PokeCoins. For comparison, a bundle of 1,200 PokeCoins costs $10 USD. There is also other stipulations for those that decide they'd like to change their allegiance. A Team Medallion can only be purchased once every 365 days, which means once you switch your team you're stuck like that for a year.

Pokemon GO - Choose Your Team Carefully

Once players start their Pokemon Go adventure they are asked to choose a team they'd like to represent: Team Valor, Team Mystic, or Team Instinct. Until the latest update this decision was permanent, so players that wanted to switch will finally get the opportunity to do so.

The Team Medallion is not the only new feature being incorporated into Pokemon Go; Niantic recently added Go Snapshot AR Photo Mode. The new mode allows players to take photos of any Pokemon they have in their storage and send them to friends.

It's an exciting time to be a Pokemon Go fan. Niantic certainly hasn't held back their support for the game. With a special raid weekend around the corner, there is plenty of reasons to open this app up. For more information on Pokemon Go be sure to check back with us here at GigamaxGames.com.

Pokemon: Let’s Go Brand New Trailer With Plenty of Details

Pokemon: Let's Go Brand New Trailer With Plenty of Details

Nintendo released a brand new trailer for their upcoming title Pokemon: Let's Go. It showed off an impressive amount of new details for trainers to get excited about. The trailer, which those interested can watch below, bears the slogan "explore the Kanto region in a whole new way" and based on that short video, Nintendo certainly isn't lying.

While the gameplay may be familiar to fans of the series, there is more visual detail packed into the world and sprites than players have ever seen before. It shows off trainers, both male and female, riding on the backs of select Pokemon such as Charizard, Onix, and Arcanine. There are short clips of battles and a look at how players will be able to customize and bond with both Pikachu and Eevee, the starters fans choose between depending on which version they buy. Much like in the more recent Pokemon titles, trainers will be able to pet and feed their monsters to keep their morale up.

Matching Pokemon Outfits? Yes, Please!

Players will have a variety of cosmetic choices to experiment with when customizing Pikachu or Eevee. Fans can choose between different hairstyles and clothing to personalize their Pokemon. The new trailer shows off Eevee in a charming blue hat and red bowtie combo, while Pikachu is looking sporty in a nice safari outfit. If trainers are feeling super close to their Pokemon, they can even wear matching costumes.

Along with basic trainer battles, players will be able to take on the original gym leaders. The trailer gave a brief look at both Brock and Misty, who fans of the original games should remember very well. Gamers will also be able to experience the game together.  Co-op battling and trading with friends both online and locally will be available as well.

Pokemon: Let's Go is meant to be friendly toward newcomers and fans of the long running series. Both those that started playing with the mobile game Pokemon Go or gamers that have been playing since Pokemon Red and Blue will all feel at home. The game features all of the original 150 Pokemon as well as their Alolan forms from Sun and Moon. However, instead of taking the traditional approach to capturing monsters, you simply acquire them by throwing stacks of Pokeballs at them just like in Pokemon Go.

Pokemon: Let's Go is set to release on November 16th, 2018 and we'll be sure to keep you up to date on all the information Nintendo puts out here at GigamaxGames.com!
