The Division 2 Has Massive Day One Update

Fans are only a few days out from getting their hands on The Division 2, Ubisoft's latest shared world shooter. Much like the recently released game Anthem, Ubisoft is offering a number of different release dates depending on which tier of the game you buy/pre-order. However, before anyone gets to play the game they will first need to download a sizable day one update.

The Division 2 Day One Download

As detailed on Ubisoft's support website, they are releasing a patch that will fix a variety of bugs and make other improvements to the game. Players on Xbox and PC will need to have 48-52 GB (depending on region and language choice) of free space while, PS4 players will need between 88-92 GB.

Ubisoft will also be launching their Title Update 1.5 starting March 11th. Thankfully, this patch will not be as taxing, weighing in at around 2 GB depending on region and language. This patch is intended to fix issues surrounding audio cutting out that some experienced during the beta.

The Division 2

Just like the first Division, Ubisoft is set to support The Division 2 with a variety of post launch updates. The developer recently revealed their plan for the game's first year, which included two new episodes releasing in the summer and fall respectively with one more planned for the winter. Ubisoft also has a Year One Pass for those interested that gives early access to new cosmetics and perks.

The Division 2 Story Trailer Reveals Game Details

A new story trailer for The Division 2 has been officially revealed by Ubisoft, and it gives an in-depth look into what the narrative of the RPG shooter will look like in post apocalyptic Washington D.C.

This time players will take control of an Agent in The Division that survived the events of the first game and has to head to the capital of the United States. The narrator of the trailer says that the nation is divided and slipping into a civil war. The players character is thus given a mission to restore democracy to the country and take out various terrorist groups.

The Division 2: New Story, New Gear

As well as revealing some interesting story details, the trailer shows off new gear that will be available to players such as the drone and crossbow. It also appears like players will have more of an impact on the environment as explosions and bullet fire seemingly tear apart a variety of structures.

The Division 2 is set to release on March 15th, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Unfortunately for Steam users, the game will only release on Epic Games new store and Ubisoft's online market on the PC. A private beta is being held for any that pre-ordered the title on February 7th.

This franchise had an interesting life. The first game was exciting at first but appeal quickly faded for the majority. It held on to a strong following of devoted agents and Ubisoft did support the game over its lifecycle. Now that The Division 2 is releasing, and the developer had a chance to see what gamers want from the experience, the franchise has a good chance of making a massive impact in March.

The Division: Upcoming 1.6 Update Announced with GIGAMAX

The Division: Tons Of New Content With 1.6

Last Friday, Ubisoft gave a first look into the final DLC for their popular 3rd person shooter, The Division. A day later they detailed that the free update will be released right before the paid content comes out. The update and DLC will be released on the same day for all platforms, unlike the last two which appeared on Xbox One and PC first.

Ubisoft explained in a blog post that update 1.6 will add a ton of new content to The Division. First off, the update will implement a Dark Zone North, this will contain Dark Zones 7, 8, and 9. The developer said in the blog post that the conditions in these areas is "especially bleak" (bit.ly/2j1QsoZ). Ubisoft also noted that these areas will be brutal and the scenery will be very eerie. The new areas will double the size of the Dark Zone and will contain new NPC encounters and "Landmarks" to clear.

The Big Changes?

One of the biggest additions coming with  1.6 is the new Dark Zone event "Contamination." Every hour, fire obsessed cleaner NPC's will show up in the underground areas to burn contaminated body bags. The player is tasked with eliminating these hostiles while simultaneously avoiding lethal disease levels. Alongside this, leaderboards will be implemented so that their is a more competitive feel to the Dark Zone.

A new "Legendary" difficulty is being added to three missions Times Square, WarrenGate Power Plant and Napalm Production Site. The enemies in this difficulty are apparently ruthless, adapting to all player status effects, skills and health levels. Hostiles will also try to keep a low profile and constantly be on the offensive by utilizing flanking techniques. If a player manages to complete this difficulty setting, new exclusive loot will be earned. Ubisoft said that while there are only three missions to start, they have plans to add more at a later time.

Weapons Get An Update

Named weapons will also be seeing an update. When 1.6 launches, these weapons will be known as "exotics." The change will color code all of these tools and give them lore text.

PvP is getting updated as well. Ubisoft said that the changes are intended to make it more rewarding and fun to play. Hip firing will be less effective by lowering stability while the player's character is moving. A new camera setting is also being implemented to make it more challenging to get shots while firing without aiming. Players can also expect to see less of a difference between head and body shots. Lastly a one second delay is being added between dodge rolls and reloading while sprinting.

Ubisoft ended the blog post by stating that update 1.6 will not be the end of the game. As of now no further DLC or updates have been announced but due to the game's overall success we will likely see an announcement in the near future (Perhaps E3). Gigamax will have further coverage of the update when it is released so keep checking back on more info on The Division!
