Studio Wildcard, the publisher and developer behind ARK: Survival Evolved released the Homestead update yesterday (3/5/2019). The free update is available on Steam PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.

Homestead will improve existing structures and add new customizable building pieces along with more placement options. As well as the building improvements, the Kibble system has been updated to make creature taming simpler.

The press release published by Studio Wildcard stated all the builds featured in the video above were made by real players.

Surviving can be a chore in this dinosaur ridden, action-adventure game. Once a player secures their footing in this tretorious world, it’s time to start laying claim to large swatches of land and building a home to rise above the dangers that lurk around every corner. Homestead gives gamers the ability to create even more impressive dwellings than ever before. This was made possible thanks, in part, to Structures Plus (S+), a player created Sponsored Mod by Orionsun.

A public beta for Homestead was conducted by Studio Wildcard. The update pulled major elements from S+ and the beta was to test that all the features worked when incorporated into the full game.

Kibble Me Timbers

Kibble was the second focus of the Homestead update. Every tameable creature in the ARK universe now falls into one of six different categories. A creatures egg can be used to tame any creature that falls within the category of the creature that laid the egg. This is a massive improvement / simplification of the old kibble system. Before Homestead, there were over 50 different kibbles that all required a specific egg. The six categories of kibble introduced in Homestead include: Basic, Simple, Regular, Superior, Exception, and Extraordinary Kibbles. These six kibble categories will now be all a survivor or their tribe needs to tame any beast they come across.

ARK:Survival Evolved continues to expand and progress. Quality of life updates, new lands to explore, and an ever-growing community of survives keeps gamers coming back. The world isn’t forgiving but it is addicting. Progressing alone or with a tribe is both stressful and satisfying. Watching a base build and expand or seeing a massive army of dinosaurs after pouring hard-earned hours into collecting materials and taming animals is nothing less than fulfilling.
