The next installment of the Call of Duty franchise hits stores on November 3rd and people can’t wait to get their hands on this classic rendition of the popular shooter. Call of Duty is a staple of the first person shooter genre but in recent years the developers (Sledgehammer Games, Treyarch, and Infinity Ward) have been fixated on future warfare. People were getting sick of this theme so Call of Duty brought it right back to their origins and are embracing the World War II experience once again.

Xbox One X System Launch - November 7th

Microsoft is finally ready to release their highly anticipated Xbox One X. This new console is expected to blow every other console out of the water. More powerful than a PS4 Pro, gamers are excited to experience the most powerful gaming console the world has ever seen. With the disappointment in the power of the original Xbox One, Microsoft has some ground to take back from Sony and their more powerful PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro. Let’s see if the Xbox One X can deliver all the promises Microsoft has made.

Any fan of the Lego games will be excited to find out that Warner Brothers Games is releasing the second installment of Lego Marvel Super Heroes. Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 will bring together Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villians from all your favorite Marvel movies into one beautiful Lego package. The Lego games are known for being impressively well put together and Gigamax is expecting another knockout.

Star Wars Battlefront II (PS4, Xbox One, PC) - November 17th

Many gamers had the chance to play the Beta for Star Wars Battlefront II in October and people were not disappointed. A huge step in the right direction, it completely overshadowed the previous Star Wars Battlefront and the community couldn’t be happier to see the improvements. The last title really did leave people with a bad taste in their mouths but hopefully, EA DICE learned from their mistakes and the full Star Wars Battlefront II will deliver an incredible experience.

Pokémon Ultra Sun/ Ultra Moon (3DS) - November 17th

What possibly could be the last Pokémon game coming exclusively to the Nintendo 3DS, Pokémon Ultra Sun/ Ultra Moon will be available on November 17th. The world cannot wait for a chance to play another Pokémon game. It doesn’t matter how many Pokémon games hit the market, people just seem to eat it up and enjoy every second of them. It’ll be exciting to see what secrets and surprises the new Pokémon will have in store.

World of Tanks Won't be Getting a Sequel

Despite being one of the largest games in the world, World of Tanks will not be getting a sequel according to its developer, Wargaming. Many may recognize this free to play game's name and that is no surprise considering its massive player base now reaching over 130 million active users. Due to the massive success of World of Tanks, many fans anticipated that a sequel would be arriving in the near future, but that is not the case.

Latest World From PAX Australia

Recently at PAX Australia the Regional Publishing Director of Wargaming, Alex de Giorgio, was asked during a panel if World of Tanks 2 was on the way. Ultimately, de Giorgio said that the studio did not have plans to make another game in the series, but instead had a bigger plan for their seven-year-old game. He added that Wargaming sees its title as a games-as-a-service, one that will continue to expand and update over time. With that being the case, a sequel will most likely never come out for the game.

De Giorgio explained "It's this constant evolution; that's been the hallmark of the game," he continued saying that adding a sequel to World of Tanks "doesn't really make sense to us." (

This games-as-a-service model is nothing new in terms of big name games. In fact, Wargaming's stance on their game falls in line with Psyonix's stance on Rocket League and what the developer of PUBG, Brendan Greene, has spoken about for his game. Each of these developers believes in updating and evolving their games instead of rushing to put out a sequel.

This belief in continued support of a game has shown success because it gives players a reason to stay invested in a game and spend their money on the experience. Free to play games like World of Tanks need microtransactions to survive, which many people say is a democratic system that helps developers make compelling content because if they don't, people will just walk away from the game. Destiny 2 Seasons Detailed at TwitchCon Panel

Bungie recently offered details on the upcoming Destiny 2 seasons after a panel they held at TwitchCon. The company provided some insight into how the new system will work and how players will be able to take advantage of the seasons to get new gear and other rewards. This comes as no surprise considering Bungie has been looking for ways to extend the lifespan of Destiny 2 since the game's launch in September.

After showing a quick preview of what to expect from next week's patch, the developer showed viewers an outline of areas it wants to improve throughout the game. As of now, the game has been handed off from the main development team to the Live Team, who are responsible for supporting the game post-launch, much like what was done for the first Destiny. Some of the updates the Live Team have planned include private Crucible matches, improved rewards for high-level activities, and changes to the mod system.

The Details

In a post on the Bungie website yesterday, the game's director Christopher Barrett said "We've been playing the game in the wild for seven weeks, and like the Destiny experiences that have come before, we're always thinking about where the game is heading next. We're still planning when a bunch of the improvements listed below are going to make their way into the game, but we wanted to let you know what we're up to." Following the statement, he issued a series of areas that Bungie was working on for Destiny 2 seasons.

  • New systems and rewards to give our most engaged players additional, optional pursuits.
  • Better incentives for players who complete challenging Prestige activities.
  • Better rewards and replay value for strikes, adventures, and Lost Sectors.
  • Private matches for the competitive community (we are targeting early 2018).
  • Crucible tuning like adjusted Supremacy scoring and better spawning rules.
  • Better incentives for completing Crucible matches (and penalties for quitting competitive games).
  • Continued improvements to Iron Banner and Faction Rallies, including uniqueness of rewards.
  • Changes to make the mod economy more interesting and impactful.
  • Ongoing improvements to Exotics, including adjustments to reduce instances of duplication.
  • New ways to spend surplus currency and materials (looking at you Legendary Shards).
  • An emote interface that allows players to equip Salty, Spicy Ramen, Six Shooter, and Flip Out all at the same time.

As of now, Bungie only detailed a timetable for private matches. Next week's update is all about addressing issues with bugs, rather than adding more content. Recently the Iron Banner and Faction Rallies saw a return to the game and the company said that The Dawning will be coming back, but unfortunately there will be no Halloween event this year but the Festival of the Lost will be returning in 2018. It seems as though Bungie has a lot of work ahead of them and hopefully they can roll out some of these additions before too many players depart the game for this the upcoming big releases like Call of Duty WWII. We'll be keeping a close eye on these changes so be sure to keep checking back as more information becomes available!

This Friday has a lot in store for gamers. A host of new games will be hitting the market all at once! This may be a problem for wallets around the world, but for those eager to start a new adventure, it's truly a treat. With such an incredible week of gaming, let's take a look at the highly anticipated titles releasing just in time for the weekend.

Assassin's Creed: Origins - PS4, Xbox One, PC

The Assassin's Creed franchise is known for its inconsistency. One game will come out and blow audiences away and then the next game will be a complete blunder. Assassins Creed 2 and 3 come to mind or Black Flag and Unity. However, this time around, it looks like Ubisoft is heading in the right direction, finally allowing players to experience ancient Egypt. Players will be leaders of the Assassin’s Brotherhood, tasked with uncovering lost tombs and exploring the pyramids. Ubisoft took a different direction with this title, embracing a new RPG style which fits perfectly with the expansive open world.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus - PS4, Xbox One, PC

This franchise has been around for decades and gamers are ecstatic the eleventh installment is nearing release. It will be a sequel to the 2014 game, Wolfenstein: The New Order. Taking a lot of the gameplay style from The New Order but of course, the developers have a lot more to work with in terms of gaming technology. The environments and some elements of the core game will be entirely different. This will truly be a treat for any Wolfenstein fan but has also appealed to newcomers of the series as well. It'll be interesting to see how this classic franchise fairs in this interesting new gaming market the world currently embracing.

Hardcore Nintendo fans probably don't need to read this brief description of Super Mario Odyssey. People have been shaking from anticipation to get their hands on this completely unique Mario game. Exploring 3D kingdoms with incredibly diverse environments, this will undoubtedly be unlike any Mario game Nintendo has ever released. Sure there have been 3D worlds with Mario before but nothing to this magnitude and fans cannot wait for a chance to play.

Switch Super Smash Rumor Train At Full Steam

The most recent update Nintendo made to the Switch has a lot of people asking if this could be a sign of a new Super Smash Bros coming soon. Nintendo Switch's update finally allows players to use GameCube controllers which are widely used throughout the Super Smash Bros community. This classic controller feels like it was built for smash but until now, the Nintendo Switch went without it. However, now that Nintendo is finally ready to open up the Switch to GameCube controllers, it looks as though a new Super Smash for the Switch could be on the horizon.

Nintendo Switch Update

The latest Switch update includes USB headphone support as well as supporting GameCube controllers. There is a catch however, gamers will need the USB adapter that was released for the Wii U. This adapter added GameCube controller support for the Wii U but it only worked if people were playing Super Smash Bros. This is where the rumor mill starts heating up.

The Rumor Mill

Rumors are flying all around this latest update. From GameCube Virtual Console speculation to possible new Super Smash news, things are starting to get exciting. Wii U may have only allowed players to use GameCube controllers specifically for Super Smash Bro’s but right now, gamers on the Switch can play other games with them. Some games, like Fire Emblem Warriors,  lose certain features that are only available with the Switch’s controllers but the GameCube option is available. 

Nintendo Is Committed

Announcements from the company have reassured gamers that they will be developing a version of Smash for the Nintendo Switch. However, they did state that they will not be porting any older I.P's to the Switch and instead, updating versions of the games specifically for the new console. The new Switch Super Smash could even include all the new characters from Nintendo's latest games. It would be amazing to see ARMS and Splatoon characters make the list in the next Super Smash installment. This could also help explain the wait for the highly anticipated Super Smash Bros. 

Gigamax Games will be keeping a close eye on any other hints Nintendo drops about an upcoming Smash Bros for their new system. The Switch put Nintendo back on the map and Super Smash Bros has been a consistent hit for the video game company. It only makes sense they will be delivering this game to players relatively soon.

Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct Announced

Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct Announced

Fans of the long-running Nintendo series, Animal Crossing, will be delighted to hear that the home building simulator will be getting a Nintendo Direct this week. Unfortunately, it's not for a Switch or 3DS version of the game but instead, it will be for a mobile version. The Nintendo Direct will take place on October 25th and the pre-recorded broadcast will stream on Youtube starting at 11:00 pm EST. According to the Japanese Nintendo twitter account, the Direct will last a total of 15 minutes.

What Might Be Announced

If you're hoping that the company may surprise fans with a Switch or 3DS announcement, don't get too excited because Nintendo already said on their website that there will not be any information on either of the console versions. That's not to say the series will never appear on the Switch. Nintendo has previously stated that they're bringing all of their main IP's to the console.

Nintendo initially slotted the Animal Crossing mobile game for the first quarter of this year but it was delayed into the company's next fiscal year. This means the game could come out in March of 2018. Nintendo attributes the delay to the launch of their other two mobile games Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes, which they launched earlier this year in a partnership with DeNA.

Shigeru Miyamoto, Co-Representative Director at Nintendo, has said that the company will continue to craft original games for mobile devices instead of porting old ones. This has been backed up with their previous two mobile releases, much to the chagrin of their fans who have not been happy with the titles.

Could This Be The Perfect Mobile Fit? 

Animal Crossing could potentially be the perfect fit for smartphones, with its slow and relaxing nature and home/town building, this series could take off for an entirely new audience. Hopefully, Nintendo doesn't squander the opportunity to generate a whole new group of people that will buy consoles for the full Animal Crossing experience but their track record isn't great so far. Either way, Gigamax will be downloading the title when it comes out so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!


Dead by Daylight – Halloween Special!

Dead by Daylight – Halloween Horror Special!

The Gigamax crew is celebrating October with a bunch of different scary games and Dead by Daylight is on the list. Sneaking around a bunch of unique monsters while your friends try to start generators might sound easy, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Gigs and Mack test their luck and go head to head with some monsters online to see if they have what it takes to survive. For the most part, they don’t but it’s still funny watching them kick and wiggle to stay far away from that meat hook.

Going in relatively blind, the Gigamax crew are bigger fans of Friday the 13th: The Game, but Dead by Daylight shares a lot of similarities with the other indie game. This gave the crew some confidence in their abilities but it soon becomes clear they are in fact two very different games. The fact that the human players can’t fight back dramatically changes the entire pace of the game. It is amazing how much it can make one person panic.

The Evil Within 2 – Horror Special!

The Evil Within 2 came out on Friday the 13th, 2017 and its timing was no accident. Developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda, they truly captured the psychological horror the first game created so well. Starting out with a more focused mission, the familiar faces and unfamiliar environments create the perfect atmosphere for this time of year. With Halloween right around the corner, the Gigamax crew thought this was the perfect game to celebrate the holiday season and The Evil Within 2 is a great fit.

Now that The Evil Within 2 playlist is up and going, be sure to stay tuned for new episodes as Gigs and Mack work their way through this terrifying adventure. Gigs offers some pro-tips and Mack watches on, sweating and scared for their lives. One thing this game does very well is making sure the player never feels safe, not even the safe rooms can protect the gamer from the horrors of this world.

Each step forward opens up the opportunity for anything to happen. The fact that The Evil Within 2 took all the terrifying elements from the first but completely left the liner story behind and instead changed to an open world gives the game a completely different feel. The open world leaves everything to chance and gives the player a feeling that they are in control in a world where nothing can be controlled. This makeup gives this horror game it’s extremely unique feel.

Lawbreakers Launches Huge New Patch

Lawbreakers All-Star Update

An update has just released for the Anti-Gravity FPS Hero Based Multiplayer experience, Lawbreakers, and it's a big one. As of now the update for Cliff Bleszinski's new game is available on PS4 and PC. The patch adds a ton of new content, most notably Boss Leagues, a new ranked mode that fans have been anticipating since the game launched.

Even though Boss Leagues is now live, it seems like the first season is a bit of a test. Season 0 is what the studio named this "beta season" and plans on gathering feedback so they can improve future seasons. Currently, there are three game modes in Season 0: Blitzball, Uplink, and Occupy, which don't allow doubling up on roles, much like the ever popular, Overwatch. The studio also made it easier to find players by extending matchmaking parameters.

The new update also includes a brand new map where players can test their skills in Blitzball. It's known as Gateway and is located above the streets of San Francisco. "Gateway, the Blitzball stadium, is a such a marvel, as it floats effortlessly in the sky thanks to Hadronium's anti-gravitational properties," Boss Key says. The studio updated the Redfalls map to contain a Blood Moon that gives the stage an overall creepier vibe, but in terms of gameplay, this new aesthetic does not do much.

Today's update will add a bunch of new content players can unlock through the loot box system. In total there are more than 120 new items to collect. Lastly, the update adds a much-needed tutorial mode which was a confusing misstep when the game first launched.   • "We're increasing the out of combat delay so that hopping from engagement to engagement takes more strategy."
  • Increased the time it takes out of combat for health regen to start from 3 → 5 seconds.
  • "With the health adjustments in Patch 1.4, Assassins aren't as squishy and don't need as much help sustaining while in Frenzy. We've cut down on the healing per hit to address this."
  • Arc Blade's healing per hit, while Frenzy is active, has been decreased from 70 → 55.
  • Frenzy replenishes all movement charges upon activation (Patch 1.4 missing note)
  • "We've added more charges to Firefly so that Battle Medics can command the battlefield a bit better. Having the same amount of ammo on both weapons should help their swap timing and make them more viable in skirmish modes."
  • Firefly's number of charges increased from 4 → 6.
  • Increased time between replenishing Firefly charges from 0.2 → 0.25 seconds.
  • "Enforcers health has been brought down since previous patches have increased his survivability."
  • Base health reduced from 500 → 475.
  • "We've added charge multiplier logic to the Omega that increases alongside damage. This should reward high accuracy players and curtail "spam slinger" effectiveness."
  • *NEW* Gunslinger's Omega headshot multiplier will now scale up based upon how long your charge your shots.
  • Omega's min headshot multiplier is now 1.1.
  • Omega's max charged headshot multiplier is now 1.75.
  • “Harrier's kit inherently makes them extremely survivable, so we've knocked 25 points off of their Base Health. The Shoc-Croc has been adjusted to deal more damage if you can train your weapon on an enemy's head. We've also shortened the length of Convergence to make it less oppressive."
  • Base health reduced from 450 → 425.
  • Shoc-Croc's headshot multiplier increased from 1.5 → 1.75.
  • Laser Tag cooldown visual now changes from red to blue when able to fire.
  • Convergence beam duration reduced from 6 → 5 seconds.
  • "Juggernaut needed a bit of help when low on ammo, so Instigator has gotten a reload speed bump. We're working on some bug fixes to reload issues overall in future patches that will help them out."
  • Instigator's reload speed has been sped up by 10%.
  • Holo-Deflector can be manually destroyed by pressing the activation button again (Patch 1.4 missing note).
  • "Titan has gotten some quality of life improvements this patch. They can now perform more actions while in Berserk mode, and we've added our version of a much requested range indicator for Hammerhead rockets."
  • *NEW* Detonation indicator will now appear when a target is within a rocket's explosion radius.
  • Pulverize's max damage increased from 125 → 175.
  • Titan can now kick and jump while Berserk is active.
  • "Vanguard's Meteor Shells + Pulsar burst potential has been dialed in a bit and we've made the shell's self damage less punishing."
  • Pulsar's damage radius lowered from 200 → 175.
  • Pulsar's max damage lowered from 120 → 110.
  • Hydra's time it takes to get to full fire rate has been increased by 7.5%.
  • Updated Hydra's primary reticle.
  • Meteor Shells self-damage reduced from 100% → 50%.
  • "Wraith is getting outdueled and damaged at his intended effective range. We've adjusted the reload speed to help them exchange fire and increased the minimum damage from Wasp to match a default kick. Chrono Switch has also seen an adjustment so that hitting targets with it should be more reliable."
  • Spektor's falloff start distance increased from 600 → 750.
  • Spektor's reload speed has been sped up by 25%.
  • Wasp's minimum stab damage increased from 30 → 75.
  • Chrono Switch's slowing rings travel speed has been increased by 30%.
  • Increased the time between firing Chrono Switch's slowing rings by 10%.


  • *NEW* Multi-region Queue has been added to place players with acceptable latency in matches from all around the country and/or world.
  • *NEW* First Win of the Day XP Bonus has been added for getting your first win in any mode.
  • *NEW* Progression UI Widget has been added to the bottom right to show current Account / Boss Leagues progression, as well as a current creds total.
  • *NEW* Customizable reticle options in the Settings menu now include a Simple Dot, Simple Circle, and Simple Crosshair plus color options.
  • Increased the amount of XP awarded in all modes for time played. This means quicker account progression for everyone.
  • Added in text for score amount awarded on scoring events.
  • Added in major text announcements for carriers picking up the objective object in Blitzball, Overcharge, and Uplink.
  • Crosshairs now draw on top of all HUD elements.
  • Made it so that text chat does not switch sides during death cam.
  • General Spectator improvements to overall visuals, clarity, and bug fixes.
  • Added in a ton of stat tracking for different weapons, abilities, and scoring events for roles that are displayed on the statistics page of the player profile.
  • Improved hit registration by speeding up smoothing on replicas to make positions more accurate.
  • Added latency compensation logic to improve Arc Blade grapple hit detection.
  • Titan rocket air detonation has latency compensation (so if you detonate it when you see it near somebody, it should deal damage, even at higher pings)
  • Redesigned the "Play" mode selection screen.
  • Added bonus XP when backfilling into and completing a match that was missing players.
  • Don't count a match as a loss for a player that joined late and filled in a missing player's spot.
  • Visual improvements for full-screen effects like Distortion Field and Chrono Switch's slowing effect.

  • Fixed error sound not playing issue when attempting to equip a locked account portrait.


  • Fixed an issue where shooting the Alpha while blindfiring Omega would interrupt Omega's animation.


  • Fixed issues that improve the transition from sprint super jumping into blindfire,


  • Fixed wall jump occasionally triggering on stairs and other unintended surfaces.

Turf War

  • Tiebreaker overtime rules in Turf War fixed, so you have to capture 2 zones to win.
  • Fixed crashes occurring directly after killing an objective carrier with a kick.
  • Fixed an issue where players could potentially cycle to a new match and see a black screen during character select, they would not be able to play without restarting.
  • Fixed an issue where not all assist based scoring events were tracking for achievements.
  • Fixed a bug where holding left d-pad and left stick would cause settings to adjust twice as fast.

So, About That Single-Player Star Wars Game

News broke late yesterday, 10/17/17, that Electronic Arts will be shutting down Visceral Games. Well known for games like Battlefield Hardline and Dead Space, this studio was working on another highly anticipated title and people are worried about its future. Visceral has been developing a new action-adventure Star Wars game that EA compared to Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series. However, now with Visceral dissolving, the fate of this Star Wars project is up in the air.

The studio was working on this single-player Star Wars game since 2013. It had a lot of people excited and EA expected to release the game in 2019 but now it has been pushed back without any information on when it could eventually be released.

The Official Word

“Our Visceral studio has been developing an action-adventure title set in the Star Wars universe,” EA”s Executive Vice President Patrick Söderlund said. He continued to explain, “In its current form, it was shaping up to be a story-based, linear adventure game. Throughout the development process, we have been testing the game concept with players, listening to the feedback about what and how they want to play and closely tracking fundamental shifts in the marketplace. It has become clear that to deliver an experience that players will want to come back to and enjoy for a long time to come, we needed to pivot the design.”

This ‘pivot’ in design and the fall of Visceral forced other EA studios to take over the development of the Star Wars project. The shift in direction could create an interesting final product, but that would only be if it ever reaches market. Söderlund offered a few details on who will be taking lead on the project. He stated, “A development team from across EA Worldwide Studios will take over development of this game, led by a team from EA Vancouver that has already been working on the project,”

Few Details But Many Questions

Electronic Arts may have offered extremely few details throughout the development process of the new Star Wars game but they did have an incredible concept and was working with some incredible talent. Amy Hennig, former Naughty Dog creative director was working on the new title, co-writing the Star Wars adventure with Todd Stashwick.  An update from the site Polygon, shed some light on Amy Hennig’s future at EA. A company representative explained, “We’re in discussions with Amy about her next move.”

Our thoughts are with every team member affected by the closing of this renowned studio but EA did say they will be shifting as many of the team over to other projects in the EA family.  With the EA Star Wars project still in limbo as of now, Gigamax will be keeping a close eye out for any developments.
