Neverwinter: Infernal Descent is available on PC now and is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 February 25. Neverwinter is receiving consistent content expansions and add ons which continuously breathe new life into this game based on Wizards of the Coas’s Dungeons & Dragons tabletop adventure, Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avrnus.

Neverwinter: Infernal Descent Launch Trailer

“In Infernal Descent, Vallenhas Manor has been ripped from Faerûn and pulled into the fiery depths of Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells, during the ongoing conflict between devils and demons known as the Blood War. Players must team up with two new heroes, the Paladin Alric Vallenhas and the Bard Etrien Sael, along with heroes of yore for a grand adventure through the Nine Hells to save the people of Vallenhas Estate from the infernal machinations of the archdevil Zariel.” is how the official press release described this latest adventure.

Infernal Descent introduces brand-new endgame content. A campaign for level 80 characters will introduce a new zone and endgame dungeon set. Players can also expect to see new Avernus-themed story instances, enemies, and equipment. The publisher and studio offered a complete overview of all the content available in the new update.

New Content Available in Neverwinter: Infernal Descent

  • Baldur’s Gate: Descent Into Avernus Storyline: This storyline is based on the actual Baldur’s Gate: Descent Into Avernus campaign from Dungeons & Dragons.
  • Baldur’s Gate: Descent Into Avernus Campaign: The level 80 endgame adventure that takes players through the Nine Hells to save the innocent people of Vellenhas Estate.
  • New Neverwinter Characters: Meet Paladin Alric Vallenhas and Bard Etrien Sael. Vallenhas is a Paladin with a dark past looking to redeem himself and Sael, a loyal protector of the Vallenhas family.
  • Vallenhas Estate Adventure Zone: Experience the Vallenhas Manor and the surrounding landscape.
  • A House in Need Story Instance: Expect a new opening that explains the story of the Vallenhas family and introduces the new Neverwinter Characters. Even non-D&D players will be able to follow along.
  • The Last Bastion Story Instance: Neverwinter adds a repeatable conclusion to the Infernal Descent questline.

Infernal Citadel Dungeon: The endgame dungeon floats above Avernus. As with any endgame content, this dungeon was created as a true test of players’ ability to cooperate and overcome.

neverwinter infernal descent update and release date

Any Dungeons & Dragons fan will want to give Neverwinter a try. The game includes familiar enemies, locations, stories, and offers an uncanny feeling of being plucked out of the tabletop and slapped on a gaming console. It provides that addicting pull of any high-quality MMORPG. Many free-to-play MMORPG’s like Neverwinter will make it feel like the player needs to pay to play. However, after a recent revisit to the game, it is clear the microtransactions are subtle enough where a free member can progress through the game nearly unimpeded.
