Halo Infinite will be a joint development project from 343 Industries and Skybox Labs. The Vancouver based game studio has a long history of working with 343 Industries. They were the development team behind Halo 5 Forge Mode on Windows 10 and added the Xbox One X enhancements to the title. Although, this time around it sounds like their work on Halo Infinite will be much more substantial.
In a press release, Skybox said that it will work together with 343 on “features across the game including AI, gameplay, networking, and cutting-edge graphics features.” (https://bit.ly/2LpycWh)
Halo FPS studio head, Chris Lee, mentioned in a statement that he believed Skybox is already doing great work on Halo Infinite. Meanwhile, Skybox’s co-founder Steven Silvester said that their studio is energized by Halo’s new art direction and engine which is being called, SlipSpace.
Skybox also clarified in their statement that most of their 100-plus developers are currently working on Halo Infinite’s development. The studio has been growing over the past couple of years and that hasn’t stopped the team looking for talented game developers with experience in a number of different disciplines.
Halo Infinite was announced at E3 2018 during Microsoft’s press conference with a flashy trailer intended to show off the SlipsSpace Engine, but 343 has yet to reveal actual gameplay or story details. Although, the world does know for sure that the game’s new direction is meant to be a nod to the original Halo. Microsoft has said that Halo Infinite is bringing the franchise back to its roots with an entry that is bigger and bolder than any previous game in the series.
