City of Brass recently released Fortune’s Rivals, the latest update to the Arabian Nights-inspired first-person adventure game. This indie game was developed by Uppercut Games and the team is made up of individuals that worked for Bioshock before starting their own studio. The talent they brought with them is clear after spending some time with the beautifully crafted, City of Brass.
New characters, backstories, weapons, items, relics and gameplay improvements are all making their way to the indie game. The developer said the update will have a massive impact on the core game, as well.
Fortune’s Rivals is the most dramatic update the game has received so far. New characters were added to the roster, all fighting for their chance to claim the treasures found throughout this mysterious world. The Traveler, Soldier, and Brigand each have a unique backstory and weapons they can use. The new characters allow gamers to experiment with new play styles, which will dramatically change the way people play.
Each of these three classes unlocks through the games Ranking System. City of Brass players that have already reached the required Rank to unlock a new class will find their new characters waiting for them after updating. Along with the new weapons and classes, players can now choose either a male or female starting character, adding a bit more customization to the gameplay.
The Traveler is the character City of Brass players first had the opportunity to meet. This is the original playable character that was introduced when the game first released. Using a sword and whip, there are limitless options when it comes to traversing the environment and slaying any of the undead scourge in the way of untold riches.
The Soldier wields a spear, stabbing its way through enemies and even hurling it at foes in times of desperation. The Brigand is equipped with throwing knives and though it isn’t as resilient as the other classes, it makes up for it with increased movement speed. Both these new characters are going to force players to take entirely different approaches to how they work their way through this roguelike adventure.
“City of Brass is a special experience and we’re happy to continue supporting the game and our lovely community with the “Fortunes Rivals” update,” said Ed Orman, co-founder and designer, Uppercut Games. “These new characters are gear introduce a fresh sense of depth and variety to the experience and we look forward to seeing players explore City of Brass in new ways.”
