Warframe certainly came prepared with announcements for this year’s TennoCon, the expo that has been set up to celebrate the game. Fans were initially surprised to hear that the free-to-play ninja robot simulator would be heading to the Nintendo Switch. Digital Extremes followed this news up by unveiling the next major expansion named, Fortuna, which will take place in an open world setting on Venus. The update will add a new faction and expand the lore of the title. Another expansion that will build off of Fortuna will quickly follow it as well.
Fortuna is the follow-up expansion to the massive Plains of Eidolon update that released last November. The new faction making its way to the game is called Solaris United and is comprised of cyborgs who live in a debt-internment colony named, Fortuna, that feels heavily inspired by Blade Runner. Fortuna will serve as players hub city for the expansion much like Cetus in Plains of Eidolon. Fans of the co-operative shooter will discover a Venusian sci-fi landscape packed to the brim with seascape flora, giant mushrooms, rare creatures, and so much more.
The second expansion that was announced for Warframe is Codename: Railjack, which will come sometime after the end of this year and will focus on space combat. Players will need to team up to pilot a spaceship and fill roles such as driving, weapons, and repairing/managing shields. The preview above gives a good look at how this new system will work in the game.
On top of all these announcements, Digital Extremes revealed that two new Warframes would be making their way into the game. For those that are unaware, these are the bio-mechanical suits players take control of to fight the alien menace.
Warframe is currently available on PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. The game launched back in 2014, but has seen an amazing amount of post-launch support making it the fourth most popular game on Steam.
