Grand Theft Auto 5 released four years and ten months ago but that doesn't mean this giant money train slowed down. It was recently revealed that GTA 5 is still a big earner for both Rockstar Games and their parent company Take Two Interactive.
Take Two announced today that GTA 5 has now shipped nearly 100 million units. This number is up from the 95 million figure that they announced back in May. According to Take Two, the game has outperformed their expectations for the quarter. To give a little context to the game's insane success so far from its launch, GTA 5 was the number 3 selling game in the United States during June. It managed to outsell a number of new big name releases like The Crew 2.
GTA 5 Blowing Away Expectations
Not only did the base game do exceptionally well, but GTA Online had also managed to exceed Take Two's expectations. "Grand Theft Auto Online continued to exceed our expectations in the first quarter, as it has in every period since its release," Take-Two explained. (https://bit.ly/2LKazYG)
The main reason the online portion of GTA 5 is doing well and continues to be so successful is because Rockstar consistently releases new and interesting content. The most recent substantial update was GTA Online: After Hours which Take Two said: "had a bigger week-one audience than last December's Doomsday Heist, which went on to be a record-breaking update." Looking toward the future, the company says it has more innovative content planned for GTA Online in upcoming weeks and months. A big part of this online mode is the game's plethora of microtransactions which have been performing extremely well. During an earnings call, The CEO of Take Two, Strauss Zelnick, said: "recurrent consumer spending" (microtransactions) performed better-than-expected this quarter.
GTA V continues to thrive and it doesn't seem like there is an end in sight. The Gigamax Games crew is excited to continue following this incredible franchise and for the latest news, be sure to stop by GigamaxGames.com.
Rockstar Games, the studio behind the beloved Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption series, confirmed that the latest installment of their wild west shooter will release on October 26th, 2018. This latest announcement comes from the Rockstar Games Blog where the company was quick to apologize for the most recent delay. Initially, the game was slated for a Spring 2018 release but according to Rockstar the extra time will help them fine tune the experience.
The Official Word
The blog post reads "We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish." Continuing, "We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks." (http://bit.ly/2DTRI9I)
Rockstar has previously detailed that Red Dead Redemption 2 will follow the protagonist Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde Gang as they get into a variety of mischievous deeds all along the brutal land that was the great American West. The game will release for both the Xbox One and PS4 but as of now, the studio has not announced a PC version.
The Wild West Is Alive In GTA Online
GTA Online recently played a big role in getting fans excited for the upcoming release with determined players quickly finding references to Red Dead related secret missions after a recent update to the game. All players of GTA Online received an in-game email that pointed them in the direction of a new mission that when completed unlocked the Double-Action Revolver.
It is always unfortunate to hear a highly anticipated game is being delayed, but these push backs are very necessary in an industry where polish makes all the difference. Gigamax Games is looking forward to Red Dead 2 so be sure to check back for all the latest information surrounding the game as the release date draws closer!
After many years of fans digging through code and searching every single inch of Grand Theft Auto 5, one group has finally found the elusive green extraterrestrials. Staying true to the nature of the series, this discovery involves some malicious deeds.

Last month saw the release of the latest Grand Theft Auto 5 multiplayer update, Gunrunning. Along with the patch came a few new weapons, a couple vehicles, and giant underground bunkers. But a dedicated group of data miners wasn't satisfied, they needed to look deeper. That's where a file was discovered that hinted of an alien UFO crashing just outside of the military base, Zancudo. This discovery drove players to finally figure out the long standing mystery of the alien egg.
GTA 5 Modding and mystery hunting group, Team Guru, spent weeks figuring out how to activate the various pieces of Alien code they found in the game. After many long hours of coding the team was able to use a tool created by the Guru member Polivilas to switch in game variables until they forcibly opened an alien supply mission with brute force.
You can see a quick video of the mission below:
As you can see, the mission isn't the most exciting in the world. It involves players heading to a predesignated zone to gather supplies, and that's where the mysterious alien egg comes in. When the group arrives, they find a crashed UFO surrounded by the bodies of dead soldiers and scientists. Players are then tasked with stealing the alien egg from the crash site and escort it to a safe zone. Aliens will spawn after the egg is grabbed and the crew will need to gun down their assailants. A fairly standard mission, but the sense that a long journey is finally over satisfies more than anything else.
Many are happy with this information but some can't help but feel a little cheated. While it doesn't really justify years of searching, most fans are hopeful that this is just the beginning of aliens in GTA 5. Could we see a big space update in the future? MAYBE! Gigamax will be sure to have the coverage so make sure to keep checking back.
