Operation Para Bellum Now Live in Rainbow Six: Siege

Operation Para Bellum

Rainbow Six: Siege’s Operation Para Bellum has made its way to both consoles and PC. The new update adds a new map, Villa, for everyone and two new operators, Maestro and Alibi, which are exclusive for season pass holders for a week. This new DLC signals the launch of Siege’s second season of the game’s third year, and is one of the largest updates Rainbow Six has seen.

Welcome New Operators

The duo of new operators are members of the Italian G.I.S. and will automatically be unlocked for any players that have Siege’s Year 3 pass. Alibi has a Prisma ability which allows her to create a holographic copy of herself in an idle position. If Alibi places the equipment outside, attackers will receive an “operator outside” briefing. No matter where the hologram is deployed, Alibi will be alerted when her double is attacked and the operator that shot the gadget will be marked for a short time.

Maestro has a deployable gadget known as the Evil Eye, which is a remote-controlled camera that can see through smoke and fire shock beams. The turret acts as a bulletproof camera until Maestro decides to open fire exposing the core that attackers can destroy.

Ready For A New Map?

Villa is Rainbow Six: Siege’s 20th map and will replace Tower in ranked mode. Ubisoft said that the map is an Italian home that housed a local crime syndicate and their illegal activities. According to the story, Team Rainbow is approaching the house as the family is on the retreat.

Operation Para Bellum Gameplay

Operation Para Bellum contains a host of other changes. In the Custom Games category, players will be able to take advantage of the new Pick and Ban system. Ubisoft described this mode as an extra layer of strategy between teammates as both teams try to coordinate which operators to ban. The latest patch also adds deployable bulletproof cameras, a new animation for a diffuser taking out a bomb, adjustments to both drop shotting and operators speed, new observation tool management, buffs for the operator echo and map Clubhouse, as well as a new discovery playlist.

There are a host of changes coming along with Operation Para Bellum. Rainbow Six: Siege continues to evolve and Gigamax Games will continue watching this popular first-person shooter closely. Keep checking back for the latest gaming news, reviews, and updates.

Destiny 2’s Warmind Expansion Brings Back the Grind

Destiny 2’s Warmind Expansion Brings Back the Grind

In the most recent developer update from Bungie, Destiny 2’s senior designer, Daniel Auchenpaugh, discussed how the power level grind will be changed in the upcoming Warmind expansion. This will be the second major update the game is receiving and there are some major changes on the horizon. Basically, what this means is that it will be much harder for Guardians to max out their power levels once Warmind drops in May.

Where Did The Rewards Go?

Auchenpaugh also explained that the new public events won’t hold the lucrative rewards they have been known for recently. Clan engrams also won’t help players progress through levels on their own anymore. Warmind’s soft level cap is currently set at 340, which means that players will only be able to move up 10 power levels from  Curse of Osiris’ max level with the help of open world drops. Although, it was also stated that the hard level cap for Warmind is 380.

For gamers that have been playing Destiny 2 since launch, the grind from 340 to 380 may sound simple, but Bungie assured fans that the process will go much slower than anything they’ve released before. Auchenpaugh also stated that even players that complete every end-game activity a week will still need to wait for several resets in order to reach the new cap. As per usual, the best rewards drop from Raids and Trials while low tier gear can be earned through clan engrams.

The Grind is Real!

Players should also prepare for the grind from 370 to 380, which is set to test the patience of even the most seasoned Destiny veterans. All of these changes are to help address fans concerns that Destiny 2 had been streamlined to the point where it became too easy. With all of these updates, the longevity of Warmind is sure to be much better than both the base game and the Curse of Osiris expansion.

It should also be noted that all of the numbers mentioned above are assuming that no legendary mods are installed. Bungie is set to reveal more about the next expansion during a live stream on April 24th, before the expansion drops on May 8th.

Escape From Tarkov: Closed Beta Available Soon

Escape From Tarkov: Closed Beta Available Soon

If you can’t get enough of gritty, realistic and explosive first-person shooters, Escape from Tarkov might just make your day. Developed by the independent Battlestate Games studio, those interested will soon have a chance to join in on the closed beta. Beginning in July, Battlestate Games will be hosting a closed beta, only available to those that pre-ordered Escape from Tarkov at any point in time. So if this is the first time you’ve heard of it and the gameplay footage below caught your eye, there’s still time to jump at the opportunity.

According to the official Escape from Tarkov website, it’s currently being developed for PC and Mac. When asked about a release on consoles in 2016, Nikita Buyanov – COO and Lead Designer at Battlestate Games had some interesting words to say. “While we are interested in bringing the game to consoles, PC version is going to be uncompromisingly feature-rich, and console versions will be adapted ports, not the other way around.” http://bit.ly/2seZfdi

Play on your own through a story-driven scenario based walkthrough or have friends join in to complete raids on large compounds. The maps are expansive, offering a detailed look at the city of Tarkov. Lore will be located around the city, filling the player in, further explaining the world.

Unique Mechanics, Combat & Customization

Using their unique HECS system, standing for – Hazardous Environment Combat Simulor, Battlestate Games wants to deliver a hyper-realistic experience through and through. Weapons are unprecedentedly customizable and players need to keep in mind “real-life ballistics and projectile hit physics.”

They will need to manage their character in a way that’s nearly unheard of in a multiplayer fps. Gamers will be able to monitor their character’s health which consists of hydration, energy, blood pressure, blood loss, fractures, contusions, intoxication, exhaustion tremors and more. All need to be maintained and will have a direct impact on the character’s ability to eliminate their enemies.

More Than Just A Shooter

There is also a great deal of non-combat activities. There will be NPC merchants that will only sell you items once trust is built. A shared economy will react in real-time depending on other players actions and events. You can even become a trader and open up your own store.

It seems like this game has much more to offer than just being another shooter on your hard drive. Escape from Tarkov looks like a welcomed, unique, gritty shooter. If you’re interested in learning more about the game or even want to jump on the closed beta, you can find more on their official website.

Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Health Announced

Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Health Announced

Major changes are coming to the foundation of Rainbow Six Siege. In a recent blog post published by Ubisoft, they detailed their plan to fix some of the biggest issues fans have had with the game.  These changes will all take place over the next three months and will have an impact on the basic structure of the game under the codename ‘Operation Health’.

Operation Health

The new updates will focus heavily on technical improvements and bug fixes as they come out over the course of three stages. Operation Health updates will be released first on a public test server. After these changes have been properly reviewed on PC, they will make their way to console. Unfortunately because of these changes Ubisoft decided to cancel the upcoming Poland DLC. The Hong Kong update is also being pushed back to Season 3 in August and November’s Season 4 will feature South Korea. While Poland may no longer be a part of Year 2, it’s GROM operators will still be released between Season 3 and Season 4. The number of new maps has also been reduced to three and that includes the recent map set in Spain.

Operation Health

Ubisoft wants to keep their promise to fans and keep the community informed on what’s coming out and when. They also wanted to let players know that they can aid in this process by testing the updates on the public test server. Ubisoft plans on discussing the upcoming changes at Rainbow Six Pro League, so interested fans can get a more detailed look at the season, this will take place on May 21st. To see a full Q&A that goes over why Ubisoft decided to make this decision check out the full blog post here.

Destiny 2 Electric Boogaloo – What Can You Expect?

A Sequel Was Always In Our Destiny

Right off the bat, hype was real following the official announcement of Destiny 2. Bungie added to the excitement with a cinematic trailer, but doesn’t show off any new gameplay or details. It did however have a spin of humor which is new to the series. Let’s dive right into what we do know and what can be pieced together from the vague but humorous trailer.

Featuring Cayde-6 voiced by Nathan Fillion, the video looks beautiful, full of action and explosions. Sitting at a bar enjoying a drink, Cayde-6 is telling a war story but in a much different tone from anything seen before from the Destiny franchise. Bungie faced harsh criticism from Destiny’s overly serious atmosphere and convoluted plot. The dramatic turn when it comes to humor leads to the idea that Bungie could revisit their story to deliver a more enjoyable experience for those looking for a well rounded game.

Check out the teaser below:

Destiny 2 and The Critics

Destiny 2 already had its critics after the world found out that characters will not be carried over from the first game. This is a huge hit for committed Destiny fans around the globe. When Destiny was first released it was implied that this would be a revolution in console gaming, allowing players to grow with their character. Bungie touted that this would be a “ten year game”, instead they came up about seven years short.

Disclaimer* A jaded Destiny player is writing this.

No official release date is on the table as of now. A leaked poster is leading the community to believe Destiny 2 could drop on September 8th. It seems like this could ring true because in 2014, Destiny released on September 9th.

Be sure to check back with Gigamax Games for more information as it becomes available. It won’t be long before more details surrounding Destiny 2 will be available as a worldwide reveal trailer is set to release March 30th at 1pm EST.
