Sonic Forces: Nintendo Switch Let’s Play

Sonic Forces: Nintendo Switch Let’s Play Page

So many might agree that Sonic Forces isn’t the best game in the world, but the Gigamax crew had to see for themselves. Being Sonic fans for a long time, any new Sonic game was worth the money just to see what they’re doing with the series. Sometimes a bad review doesn’t always mean the game is actually bad. Sonic Forces absolutely has its place in the Sonic franchise.

Sonic Forces: Nintendo Switch on YouTube

Even though the game lacks depth, it offers the classic Sonic feel the game is known for. The Nintendo Switch allowed Sonic Forces to create such an amazing environment and playing mobile is always incredible. Even with all this amazing technology, it couldn’t create an industry stopping Sonic game.

Don’t Forget To Check Back For More

The game is relaxing to play, great to sit back and embrace the nostalgic 3D Sonic experience however the story is absolutely shallow. This didn’t stop the Gigamax crew from enjoying their time and making fun of the game made it even more enjoyable. With a classic Sonic feel, the game is almost hypnotic. Run through the missions, collect coins and spin through loops to make it to the end.

EA Acquires Respawn Entertainment and Titanfall

EA Acquires Respawn Entertainment and Titanfall

Despite working with EA for most of Titanfall’s lifetime, Respawn Entertainment wasn’t actually owned by the gaming giant. As of today, EA announced that it has purchased the California based developer and their mech-based FPS.

EA has been the publisher for all of Respawn’s games so far, which includes last year’s hit Titanfall 2. Also announced today was that the studio is working on a new Titanfall game, a third person Star Wars title, and a VR game that has not been detailed. Not much has been said about the next new Titanfall but Respawn previously expressed interest in continuing the series. Currently, the only details known about the Star Wars title are that it is being directed by Stig Asmussen, who was previously the director of God of War III. This is good news since EA recently shut down Visceral Games, the studio behind Dead Space that was also working on a Star Wars title.

The Offical Word

EA CEO, Andrew Wilson, said in a press release “We’ve seen firsthand the world-class caliber of Respawn as a development studio with incredible vision, deep talent, and an inspiring creative mindset,” He continued “Our longtime partnership is grounded in a shared desire to push the boundaries and deliver extraordinary and innovative new experiences for players around the world. Together, we’ve brought this to life in the Titanfall franchise, and now with the Respawn team joining EA, we have exciting plans to accomplish even more amazing things in the future.” (http://bit.ly/2hoC104)

Why Did Respawn Sell?

In an open letter on Respawn’s website the CEO, Vince Zampella, detailed the decision to sell the company, which specifically notes that he will remain acting CEO. “While it wasn’t necessary, going with EA made a lot of sense,” he said. “With Titanfall and Star Wars, EA has been a great development partner that supports us and doesn’t interfere with our process for making games or studio culture. EA will provide us with more resources, access to new technologies, and expertise that we can tap into that will help us make better games, and Respawn will retain the same creative freedom and culture we’ve always had. We’ve been talking closely with the leadership at EA and we share their values and vision for the future of being a developer-focused company that puts the players first.” (http://bit.ly/2zK2uNt)

EA was an integral force in getting Respawn Entertainment off the ground after its founders, Zampella and Jason West, were fired from the Call of Duty developer, Infinity Ward. The deal cost EA $151 million dollars in cash and up to $164 million in equity. Performance indicators could also raise the cash figure by another $140 million.

While many may worry that EA will ruin the Titanfall series, it must be remembered that EA was acting publisher for the series already, meaning they made a ton of major decisions for the previous games already. This move makes sure the studio has the resources necessary to continue making great games for fans of their beloved series. It will be exciting to see what the talent at Respawn will make with the vast resources EA has to offer.

Switch Success Causes Developers To Scramble

Switch Success Causes Developers To Scramble

Nintendo takes the throne once again as a driving force within the gaming industry. The Japanese video game maker faced some troubled times starting with the Wii and continuing through the release of the Wii U.  Now the company and their new console are once again in the limelight for a good reason. Since it was released in 2012, the Wii U sold 13.56 million consoles worldwide but the Nintendo Switch is expected to dwarf those numbers.

Time For Big Numbers

Launching in March of this year, Nintendo expects to sell 14 million consoles by the end of March 2018. They increased their forecast from 10 million consoles and all this buzz is beginning to catch the attention of game publishers and developers across the globe. Nintendo has welcomed third-party and independent developers to develop software for the Switch but previous blunders kept most away. However, with the Switch flying off the shelves, people are scrambling to get a piece of the pie.

Bandai Namco Takes Notice

Recently news broke that Bandai Namco, a highly respected Japanese game developer, will be producing three Switch-exclusive games. Expected to release between the spring and summer of 2018, word broke after their latest financial briefing. Executives from the company admit they were surprised by the success of the new console and want to bring three ‘big’ games to the revolutionary console. There were no other details but the fact that it caught the attention of this big name developer could mean this is only the beginning.

Major Industry Players Impressed

Even well-known industry players like Phil Harrison who was instrumental in launching the original PlayStation in the mid-90’s was impressed by Nintendo’s latest success. He states in an interview with GamesBeat, “Nintendo has surprised me in a good way. They’ve put some excitement back in, or at least added a dynamic to the console equation that wasn’t there previously.” (http://bit.ly/2zDO41g)

Harrison makes mention about adding a dynamic console to the market and this is a major realization game developers and even console manufacturers have made as well. Switching up how people view a gaming console could be the beginning of a fundamental shift that takes place throughout the industry.

A Look At The Power Of The Switch

The Future Looks Bright

The future looks bright for the Switch and Nintendo as a whole. Games that were never expected to make it to a Nintendo console like Skyrim and Doom being released have people excited. Opening the doors to independent developers is absolutely mindblowing. Developers openly stating that they are surprised by its success and beginning to develop games for the new console is impressive. However what’s more impressive is what this could mean for gaming.

The video game industry was flipped upside down with the emergence of the Nintendo Switch. There are big things coming and gamers are the ones that will benefit.

One thing has been consistent in terms of criticism, people were asking for more Kingdoms. The campaign may not be the longest but after finishing the core game, it doesn’t end there. There are 999 moons to find throughout all the Kingdoms and some are rewards of challenging tasks. Some of these challenges open up after the campaign is completed but others are only available once a player reaches a certain amount of moons. This creates an incredibly addictive meta, calling for players to scour the amazing Kingdoms for these little hidden tasks.

Super Mario Odyssey is much more focused on exploration rather than running through the story. The open world layout and hidden secrets around each world truly put the gamer in charge of their own adventure. Nintendo delivered something special to gamers with Super Mario Odyssey and the gaming community couldn’t be happier. It’ll be exciting to see what comes next for the Mario franchise but one thing is for sure, the world will still be searching for those 999 moons for quite some time.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus – Let’s Play Page

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus – Let’s Play Page

The Wolfenstein franchise has been around for over a decade and gamers were ecstatic to hear about this latest title. Staying true to their roots, MachineGames was able to get people excited about a single-player first-person shooter game. The genre has been scarce in modern gaming as most fps’ focus on the multiplayer element of their games and the campaign is usually an afterthought. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus knocked it out of the park with their take on the experience and it could have a bigger impact on the industry as well.

Publishers and developers will be using Wolfenstein 2 as a guide in order to gauge the community’s interest. If this latest Wolfenstein game sells well, it could mean many more single-player first-person shooter games coming to modern consoles soon.

The game overall is an incredible experience. Fast paced and extraordinary in terms of action, it was able to deliver true entertainment coupled with a fantastic story. America has fallen to the Nazi’s and gamers play as a resistance fighter ready to take back the United States of America. Not only is it an interesting story, it almost intentionally touches on important social issues in real life to pull even more emotion out of the gamer. This is a true patriotic story and it truly is a thrilling adventure.

Even if a gamer never played a previous Wolfenstein, the game does a great job catching people up with the story. A quick and concise recap in the beginning of the game gives people a nice synopsis of the most recent Wolfenstein story ark. The New Colossus is the sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order but it still remains inviting to those that didn’t have a chance to play the first game. MachineGames really did an amazing thing with this latest release.

Trailer Sheds Light on Dragon Ball FighterZ Campaign

Trailer Sheds Light on Dragon Ball FighterZ Campaign

With its release date set for early next year, Dragon Ball FighterZ is expected to be one of best-licensed DBZ games to come out since they stopped making the Budokai series. Bandai Namco, the developer behind the title, is definitely well aware of this, teasing character announcements and story details whenever they get the chance. Most recently the company revealed a trailer that shed more light on Dragon Ball FighterZ’s story mode.

The game takes players on a wild journey through an original story crafted specifically for the brawler that takes place in three of DBZ’s story arcs. It starts out with a troop of clones appearing on earth followed almost immediately by the Z-Fighters losing consciousness one by one. When our main hero, Goku, finally awakens he is connected to the player which gives them control over the powerful Saiyan.

New Characters

A new character making their way into the series through the story mode is Android 21, who Bandai Namco also shows off in the trailer. The villain is a highly intelligent scientist that is compared to the likes of Dr. Gero, whom fans of the series will remember from the Cell Saga. She also has apparent ties to the Red Ribbon Army, which comes as no surprise because all of the other androids were built by the same organization. At one point in the trailer she can also be spotted with the Namekian Eternal Dragon, Porunga, wishing Android 16 back to life.

Much like Goku, the story will link players with a variety of different characters from throughout the series for its different arcs. One of these revolves around Frieza and Goku’s ability to go Super Saiyan, while another gives players control of Android 18 during the Cell Saga. Fighting with the character will let fans develop an in game “bond” as more enemies are defeated. As the bond builds, new conversations will be unlocked that give insight into the character’s back story.
