Showdown is a new 3v3 PvP mode only available from July 2nd through July 16th. Ubisoft limits weapons, removes gadgets, and eliminated the preparation phase. Rainbow Six: Siege Showdown also features a brand-new “secure area type” map, Fort Truth.

Guns are limited to the BOSG 12.2 and Magnum LFP586. Gun battles are forced to become more methodical with nothing but a double-barreled shotgun and classic six-shooter to defend themselves. Paired with the sunny map that feels straight out of the movie, “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”, Ubisoft sets the perfect stage for gamers to live out their Cowboy competitive shooter fantasies.

The new game mode consists of three attackers and three defenders. Defenders are tasked with securing an area of the map while attackers push to claim that area as their own. Teams will have a minute and a half to secure the area or eliminate the opposing team. In standard Rainbow Six: Siege fashion, rounds are best of five. Smoke and frag grenades are available to attackers, and defenders have access to barbwire. However, there will be absolutely no electronics. No breaching charges, explosives, barricades or gadgets are available in Showdown.

Besides limiting guns and gadgets, Showdown only gives players the choice between 10 characters.

  • Rook
  • Caveira
  • Maestro
  • Alibi
  • Kaid

More Rainbow Six: Siege Showdown Details

Showdown includes 31 western-themed exclusive items. Cowboy outfits and period headgear will be available for the 10 different operators. Ubisoft also told IGN that there will be no duplicate items earned form the Showdown Collection Packs.

This isn’t the first time Ubisoft surprised fans with a unique game mode. Rainbow Six: Siege fans had the opportunity to play, Outbreak, in March of 2018. The goal-oriented PvE event released in tandem with Operation Chimera and shook up the competitive shooter in a big way. Gamers were thrown into a hellish world, infested by evil and tasked with eliminating the threats and making it out alive.

Besides the April Fools event that reskinned the game in a sickeningly sweet fashion, Showdown will be the first PvP limited-time event. A new game mode, limited weapons and characters, and a brand-new map, Rainbow Six: Siege Cowboys are in for a memorable two weeks.

Ubisoft Reveals New Support Strategy For Rainbow Six Siege

Ubisoft is getting ready to launch year four of Rainbow Six Siege with Operation: Burnt Horizon. Along with the new season, the developer plans on ramping up their support for the popular first person shooter title with a few changes to how they handle updates.

Rainbow Six Siege: Update Strategy

Their first change is splitting the development team into separate sections that will cover each of the major parts of the game: events, balance, maps, and operators. Ubisoft will also create a special team that will focus on improving toxicity and player behavior to ensure every game is a pleasant experience. One change that will be implemented shortly is reflecting friendly fire damage back at trolls that are purposely team killing.

Rainbow Six Siege fans can still expect the usual release of eight new operators per season, but the Ubisoft is going to put a larger focus on maps. The team already announced one new map and three reworks for year four of the game. The reworks will cosmetically change some features on the maps and move cover to create new chokepoints.

The company stated that they will now have to shift focus to cater to new players and those that have invested their time since Siege launched in 2015. This means that server queues will be altered to help new players get their footing and ensure that veterans have the same competitive experience they've come to expect.

Ubisoft wants to place a greater focus on new events that introduce new themes and limited time activities to the game. The development team wants to test new twists on gameplay with these events and will use community feedback to see what works and what doesn't. Rainbow Six Siege continues to expand and grow, to keep up to date with the latest news, be sure to check back with us here at GigamaxGames.com.

Ubisoft Reveals Operation Wind Bastion Operators

Ubisoft revealed the next two battle-hardened operators that are making their way to Rainbow Six Siege in the next major update, Operation Wind Bastion. The two new characters go by the names Kaid the defender, and Nomad the attacker.

Operation Wind Bastion New Operators

According to the lore of Rainbow Six Siege, Kaid is a traditionalist soldier who encourages his team to stop over-relying on technology. This new operators main gadget is the Rtila Electroclaw, which can be deployed on reinforced walls, hatches, barbed wire, and deployable shields to add an electrical effect that shocks opponents. While this may sound close to Bandit's ability, Kaid is much more of a tank and his Electroclaw is a more versatile tool that can be fired from a distance to quickly close off walls and hatches from enemies, but at a lower damage percentage.

While the second operator hasn't officially been revealed by Ubisoft, leaks popped up on the Rainbow Six Siege subreddit showing off the new character. Nomad's abilities appear to be a bit more mystical than players are used to, with the unique power of keeping enemies away with the wind. This appears to be a re-tooling of an enemy ability from Siege's limited time event, Outbreak. When used in the zombie mode, this ability also broke walls and objects.

How her gadget works is less clear, but the trailer for Operation Wind Bastion seems to suggest she utilizes some sort of proximity dart. Ubisoft did drop a hint in a blog post earlier in the month that Nomad had a knack for pushing the enemy back.

Fans of Rainbow Six Siege won't have to wait long for the full reveal of Operation Wind Bastion as a full breakdown of both Kaid and Nomad, and the new fortress map will all be shown during the Pro League Finals on November 17th and 18th. Fans can watch the event on the official Siege Twitch channel. We'll be sure to keep an eye out on the latest update so be sure to check back here at GigamaxGames.com for all the latest details.

Ubisoft Reveals Operation Grim Sky Operators

It feels like just yesterday Rainbow Six Siege players were given access to two operators by the names of Alibi and Maestro with the Operation Para Bellum update. However, Ubisoft isn't slowing down with their regular addition of new content. Last week the company teased the next update coming to the popular shooter, Operation Grim Sky, promising two more operators that are from Britain and the U.S. Now, the company has finally revealed what fans should expect on the battlefield in the near future.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege - Operation Grim Sky Gameplay Trailer

Rainbow Six Siege New Operators Explained

The first operator goes by the callsign Clash and is the first defender to have access to a bulletproof shield (Editors Note: SO CHEAP). Unfortunately for the attackers, the shield is always fully extended. This means that she will never have access to a gun while the shield deployed. Although to offset not having a firearm, the shield is able to deal electric shocks to opponents that stun and hurt enemies for a small amount of damage. Clash is perfect for going out and marking enemy locations while they're on the hunt and being a literal human shield for her teammates.

The second operator is an attacker whose callsign is Maverick and he comes equipped with a blowtorch for silently opening up reinforced walls. This new tool is absolutely devastating when mixed with Glaz's thermal scope because of how quick it can open up little kill holes. Those that want a big enough opening for players to fit through will need to practice patience. Cutting through metal silently in a wide area is no easy feat.

Ubisoft is also making changes to two maps that have been causing complaints. Operation Grim Sky will see a new take on the Consulate map. It will feature some new walls and places to take cover. The most massive map change is coming to Hereford Base. The company says it is now unrecognizable from its last iteration. As of now, there is no word on when Operation Grim Sky will hit Rainbow Six Siege, but the update is heading to test servers on August 20th.

Operation Chimera: What to Expect From the Alien Invasion

Operation Chimera: What to Expect From the Alien Invasion

While Rainbow Six Siege changed quite a bit since launch, Operation Chimera will offer the biggest step forward the game has ever experienced. It includes the first PVE update Siege has seen and it's called Outbreak Event. Players have the chance to fight off alien hordes with some new operators as well as with a couple fan favorites.

The highly anticipated event starts March 6th and will run until early April. Three players team up to fight an alien invasion in the small towns of Truth and Consequences, New Mexico. Three missions are included with the update: Junkyard, Hospital, and Resort. Players have the option of using the two new operators Lion and Finka as well as Smoke, Ash, Doc, Glaz, Kapkan, Tachanka, Buck, Ying, and Recruit.

New Tactics and Gameplay

Outbreak ditches Siege's standard mode of attackers and defenders for an explorative 'Left 4 Dead' like situation. For example, Hospital has players escorting a character by the name of Doctor Macintosh around a wing of her medical facility while also collecting samples, defending doors,  and finally escaping the building alive (hopefully). Junkyard and Resort involve gamers guarding explosives while attempting to destroy the towers of alien matter from the inhuman invasion.

Barricading doors and reinforcing walls is still a big part of Operation Chimera but faster animations accompany these actions due to the high speed and density of the aliens. Positions typically only need to be defended for a brief period of time until moving to the next objective which could be a number of different scenarios.

During the transition phases will be when the event feels the most like 'Left 4 Dead'. These parts oftentimes take place in open-ended areas with alien hordes rushing at the operators as they fire bullet after bullet into the oncoming invasion force. Players will refill ammo, tech, and health before moving onto the next zone with the group leader, Thermite, giving instructions over comms as the three chosen operators offer one-liners in response.

The Enemy Revealed

Five types of enemies will be hunting the operators as they make their way through the Outbreak event. There's your basic Grunt, who gains strength when alerted to the players presence. Breachers are an explosive type enemy that have yellow growths that trigger an explosion when shot. Rooters will travel underground and will grab the players at an opportune time, holding them in place. The Apex is a more powerful monster that hangs out in the back and spits smoke to blind players and summon other enemies. Finally, there's the Smasher, a gorilla-like alien that charges enemies and can hurl them incredible distances. The strategy to beat the Smasher is getting them to charge into a wall which will expose their unarmored back.

While Operation Chimera might be a stretch for Rainbow Six Siege, the game mode sounds like a wildly good time. Fans of the 'Left 4 Dead' series are sure to love the update but the downside is that it will only be around for a month. We here at Gigamax are certainly excited to see what Outbreak has in store and we'll be sure to have plenty of gameplay footage when the update goes live.

Rainbow Six Siege: New Threats Await in the Tactical Shooter

Rainbow Six Siege: New Threats Await in the Tactical Shooter

Rainbow Six Siege is gearing up to release a monstrous update. Beginning in March, Operation Chimera and the highly anticipated Outbreak event will be available to the public. Operation Chimera and Outbreak are very different experiences. One is a regular Rainbow Six Siege update and the other is something completely new to Ubisoft's' tactical first-person shooter.

Find the latest details on all the new content coming the Year 3 of Rainbow Six Siege. Directly below is the latest cryptic trailer that hints at the origins of the new threat coming to the Outbreak event.

Operation Chimera

The new Counter Terrorism Unit making its way to the dangerous world of Rainbow Six Siege is the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Threat Unit. With biological and chemical attacks becoming a more serious threat, the CBRN is a different kind of CTU than those previously added to the game. Focused on advanced threats, both operators have incredibly unique special abilities.

Using a drone to maintain “quarantine perimeters”, one of the new operators is Lion, a French operator and comes with a mysterious backstory. The official Rainbow Six blog post on the update explained, “Their service record is astounding, but their list of regrets seems endless.”

The second, a Russian operator named Finka, discovered the incredible world of self-dissolving nanobots through their studies in the motherland. Not much else is known how these nanobots will impact the course of battle. Ubisoft did state that the entire team will benefit from the research carried out by Finka.

Outbreak

Now things start to get interesting with the Year 3 content. Ubisoft is releasing a limited time co-op event unlike anything Rainbow Six Siege has seen before. An epidemic has consumed the town of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico and things get interesting. A team of three will be tasked with neutralizing the alien threat.

The new mode will include three exclusive new PvE maps and will be larger, more open and more linear than the PvP maps. These new maps are specifically designed for co-op play but will have all the destructive elements people enjoy so much.

The limited time event is available to anyone with Rainbow Six Siege. It also comes with a host of cosmetic offers including headgears, uniforms, weapon skins and new charms. Gamers will be able to play Outbreak as the Two new Chimera Operators Finka and Lion, Smoke, Ying, Buck, Kapkan, Hibana, Zofia, Fuze, Ash, Doc, Thermite, Tachanka, and Glaz.

New information will continue to become available as the release nears closer. Details on the new threat coming to Outbreak as well as a more in-depth explanation of the new operators are still scarce. Gigamax Games will continue following this new content until  Gigs and Mack are able to get hands-on with the update.
