The Nintendo Switch May Not Make It Home for the Holidays

The Nintendo Switch May Not Make It Home for the Holidays

During a recent speaking event, CEO of Nintendo America Reggie Fils-Aime said that the company could not guarantee the availability of the Switch this Holiday season. As of now, the executive has elaborated further on what he meant by the statement.

Speaking to The Financial Times, Fils-Aime said that the console's supply chain was "complex" going on to say that there are multiple factors that could be considered "choke points." Some analysts in Japan are calling out Alps Electric in particular, who makes the necessary components for the Joy-Con controller system. Although, the CEO himself wouldn't clarify which parts of the supply chain were holding production back.

"There is not one choke point, there are multiple choke points," Reggie Fils-Aime explained. "I won't go into any more detail but it's not just one component. I'm going to make millions of these units to flow into the marketplace. But what I don't know is what the demand is going to be. And there is a potential that demand is going to outstrip supply." (

Keep Your Fingers Crossed

The executive moved on to say that the company wants to avoid any situation where a consumer wants a Switch and can't get one. But unfortunately, production realities and the extremely strong demand for the console are making it impossible for him to guarantee that everyone will get their hands on the system.

Fils-Aime finished the interview by stating "We don't want to have a consumer disappointed by not being able to get one for the holiday season. But managing that complex supply chain is a challenge," but this has left many Nintendo fans with the feeling that getting a Switch this year is almost hopeless.

Switch, nintendo, holidays, video game news, video game industry, gaming, nintendo switch, gigamax, gigamax games

Nintendo has previously stated their intention was to ramp up production this holiday season but it could prove difficult with suppliers creating issues with previously agreed upon terms.  Currently, the company has modeled 10 million Switch sales for the current fiscal year, which ends in March 2018. As for sales, the latest data shows that the console has sold over 4.7 million units worldwide.

Hopefully, Nintendo is able to increase production enough so that most can get the system but unfortunately not even the CEO can be overly optimistic. The holidays are typically rough on retail and new hardware usually sells the fastest. The bright side of the production issue is that this shows the Switch's growing popularity and how Nintendo is recovering after the disaster that was the Wii U.

Pokken Tournament DX offers something many games cannot, full blown 1v1 pokemon battles. Forget the old way of training your pokemon, Pokken Tournament DX, pokemon, gaming, fighting games, nintendo, nintendo switch, switch, video games, gigamax, gigamax gamesPokken Tournament DX takes it to an entirely new level. Developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment, known for the Tekken series, they created a Tekken like pokemon fighter and it’s a blast to play.

A Dream Come True

The pokemon use real moves from the games and series and the animations are impeccable. This playlist opens up with the Demo of the Switch version of Pokken Tournament DX. Already released for the WiiU, Nintendo wanted to create an entirely new version of the game for their new system. Even though this shows they want to deliver something even better to the gamers, it’s a little unfortunate because they’re forced to wait until the new version is released for a chance to play.

More to Come!

Be sure to keep checking back with the Gigamax playlist of Pokken Tournament DX. Gigs and Mack will continue to revisit this exciting fighter and of course battle against each other to see who would have been the best pokemon. Absolver: Online Melee Action on YouTube

Absolver: Online Melee Action on YouTube

Absolver was met with mixed reviews from the Gigamax crew. Even after beating the ‘Online Melee Action” fighter both Gigs and Mack still can’t agree on if Absolver was worth the $30 price point. Disagreeing on the unique combat system and controversial length of its story, Absolver is something a person needs to see for themselves before deciding if it’s a good match for them.

What Absolver Has To Offer

In this playlist, the Gigamax crew walks through the opening tutorial and takes a brief look into the world. The tutorial shows off the core mechanics and the start of the story begins to take shape. Environments consist of cell shaded landscapes, varying slightly until the very end. It’s world is relatively small when compared to most games on the market today, but this comes in handy when the meta comes around. It absolutely is a unique game, from its combat system to the small open world, but the question remains, can it continue to be interesting for long?

Absolver, new games, latest games, video games, sloclap, indie games, indie developer, gigamax, gigamax games

Developed by Sloclap, Absolver absolutely delivered an interesting experience though and through. However, the extremely short story and ambiguous meta missed the mark for many. The game will not be a great fit for everyone but has a lot to offer for those who are willing to stick in there and search for their own rewards.

The video above is the first look at this game on the first day of release. The game’s servers were not working on launch day so unfortunately Gigs and Mack were not able to experience a critical aspect of the game. From the beginning it’s clear where the crew stands on their view of this melee fighter by Slowclap. Don't let that influence you, take a look at the gameplay and see what you think!

Destiny 2 Server and Raid Launch Times

Destiny 2 Server and Raid Launch Times

It's finally here, Destiny 2 launches next week and Bungie has clarified many of the specifics behind their first person shooters release. To kick off the list of big announcements, the developer confirmed when Destiny 2's servers will go live. The game will be officially released at Midnight in countries around the world and for the U.S. that means Midnight EST.

While Destiny 2 may not go live until September 6th, Playstation 4 players can start pre loading the game if they have the game pre purchased (Like the dedicated guardians in the Gigamax crew). Unfortunately, Bungie has yet to state when pre loading on the PC and Xbox One will start but hopefully it will be soon.

The Hype Train Is Here

To further build up the hype, Bungie detailed when Destiny 2's first Nightfall Strike, Raid, and Trials of Osiris will begin. As for the Nightfall Strikes, they will be available from the start of the game but probably won't be completed for at least a week due to their difficult nature. The Raid will kick off at 10 AM PT/ 1 PM ET/ 6 PM BST on September 13th, with Trials of Osiris launching at the same times on September 15th.

Those that don't enjoy spoilers will be happy to hear that Bungie is being super protective of details on the raid so that nothing is ruined by a leak. "If you have witnessed the race to become the first to topple the final boss, you know we keep Raid info well under wraps," Bungie said. "These are your moments to discover--your mysteries to solve. We've given you the when. You will soon discover the who, the what, and the where. Together, as a team, you might even discover the how." (

New Features!

The Guided Games feature won't roll out until September 12th at 1 PM ET and Bungie explained it will be a "Soft Beta" which essentially means only certain players will have access to the experience. Guided Games is Destiny 2's new feature that hooks solo players up with clans to help take on some of the more daunting tasks throughout the game. This may help keep people without a solid raid crew interest in the game and lend a helping hand so they can experience what the full game really has to offer.

Destiny, bungie, destiny 2, latest games, upcoming games, new games, gigamax games, review, trailer

Well this is it fellow Guardians, the countdown has started and the long awaited sequel to one of the most controversial shooters of all time is almost here. We hope to play with as many fans, friends, and newcomers as possible in the coming weeks so fill your magazines, charge your supers, throw on your freshest gear... AND LET'S GET RAIDING!
